I just picked up a My Miami. What would the linage be if i bought it from a person and he bought from an online vendor and it was an Jason Fox?

It would be from Jason Fox I would suppose.

If he bought it from Jason Fox, and has proof of it. It is legit.

hey gary i bought this from here, live sale. I bought them from Dec, 2010. I sold you a good deal :)

I really dont know why it matters. Some people get to caught up in the names and where it came from. I care what it looks like and if I can keep it.

you wouldn't feel that way if you paid over $500 for a frag and you find out later on that it was something else. There would be no way to get your money back by selling it. That's why lineage is so important.

If you're paying top dollar for a small frag of a certain coral, I would imagine you would want to make sure it is not an imitation that will look nothing like the original when it grows out. Crazy analogy but if you paid $1000s for puppy from someone who claims that the parents were both champion show-dogs, wouldn't you want to proof that it wasn't just some mutt from an animal shelter?

agreed. as long as she is hot it doesn't matter if she's asian, white, black, hispanics or european. why do so many ppl kept caught up on lineage?

There are still ppl out there that get hung up on lineage even if they knew it was the same coral.

Because she could turn out to be man... I'd like proof

because names can carry brand equity is the only reason i could think of like tyree for example. there's nothing limited about many of those corals but its still called limited to give you the impression that you better buy it before it runs out!

If that's how you feel Steezy, then I have a nice chalice pack for sale. BPD FT, jabowakee, bahama papa and Jason Sox Tangereen Dreamse. You can paypal me the $1500, no lineage neccesary :)

Lol...lineage just means you trust who you bought it from. Ideally, from reef aquarists or companies that are well known in the hobby. There is no real proof to be had.

But how can you truly tell if it is the correct linage. I did an experiment at the coral farmers market one year here in Orlando. Our local well known WWC was there and various other big names in the coral biz. I showed a bunch of the vendors several pics on my iPhone of the mummy eye chalice. I had the vendors take a peak and asked them and other reefers to pic out the original mummy eye. Only two people got it right and one wasn't even a vendor. So what paperwork or linage proof can one actually prove without a doubt it's the deal?

Thoughts?

it all depends on if i trust the vendor or not. if some random person tells me they are selling a frag of SC Dyamite with lineage to "sexycorals' for example, I will PM mike and ask him.

That's my point if a trusted vendor makes the mistake of identifying the right coral. Do you just accept it because they are a known vendor? So if anyone questions the lineage do you flat out tell them they are wrong cause it's a trusted vendor?

Just curious to see what the masses think?

When i started the thread i wanted to know if its is imported to prove the linage on you coral.Would you need it to sell?Or would someone just take your word for it?
