Over the last two months or so a few of my chalices have started to recede from their rims inwards. The recession is very slow but as of late the number receding has increased. I have consulted M and M about this and he suggested to stop dosing for a while and keep up on regular water changes. I do not disagree, I'm just hesitant to take my hands off the wheel. Below is every aspect of my tank with pictures to follow when I get home from work.
Tank: 125 gallons 72x21x18, 40 gallon sump, total volume including displacement 130-135 gallons. Setup for 15 months, with corals for 13 months or so. Coral consist of mainly lps, a few softies.
Lighting: aquaticlife t5 72in 8 bulb (4 bulbs front to back) front to back, ati blue+, aquablue special, blue +, Fiji purple. Blues run from 930 am to 845 pm, highs from 11 am to 430 pm. I cut the highs back from 6.5 to 5.5 hours
Equipment: reef oct 200xs extreme skimmer, 2 mp40s set to nutrient transport mode, mag 12 for a return pump, RKL for temp control, ATO setup.
Dosing, etc: I run carbon and Seachem phosguard passively ( just ordered a MR1 reactor) in my filter socks, dosing is Seachem reef fusion 2 part dosed by parastalic dosers, 40 ml of kh a day split into 6 dosing times, and Ca dosed at 40 ml a day at three dosing times. Both supplements are mixed with RODI and dosed as a solution. Both are separated by a minimum of 1.5 hours, controlled by my RKL. I also dose Mg at the moment in an attempt to battle a small amount of bryopsis. I do not does lugols or any other supplement/additive.
Inhabitants: kole tang, mystery wrasse, damsel (jerk), clean up crew of margarita snails, scarlet hermits, turbo snails. Corals, mainly lps...favias, plates, chalices, wellsos. Softies include a few zoas and palys, and a toadstool mushroom.
Parameters: temp 78.5 constant, as of 9:15ast night, kh 9.3, ca 420, Mg 1500, phosphates 0.08, ph 8.0-8.2, salinity 1.0255 hydrometer, potassium tested 3 weeks ago 400 ppm. Havent tested I2 or strontium or anything else. Last water change was last Sunday.
Other important notes: redid the tank 2 weeks ago, removed old sand bed and replaced with a shallower .75 in sandbed of caribsea dry argonite special grade sand.
