Chalices receding, please help...calling on you experts as well!!

Thanks for the replies guys. All the chalices that have receded have been moved to areas with low light and low flow back on Friday.

Troylee-great point, I'm currently testing PO4 with a RedSea Pro test kit, the LFS was out of a PO4 Salifert test kit. As of right now, I'm only using Seachems phosguard passively in the sump and filter sock, but thats about to change as I have a NextReef MR1 arriving tomorrow. I'm thinking of continuing the Phosguard in the reactor for the moment until I pick up some Rowaphos or GFO from BRS. I do agree that the phosphates are high, but all I can do is wait until the reactor arrives as well as perform my regular water changes.

SD Actuary-I have been spot feeding every day since friday night, mainly going with cyclopeeze for the chalices or a a little phytofeast. All chalices have been accepting the food and feeding normally.

Also, when I feed frozen mysis for the fish or larger corals, I do soak the foods and drain off the water in an attempt to prevent any phosphates from entering the tank. All tests are performed by Salifert and Red Sea test kits.

This happens to me from time to time with my chalices. Never figured out why, but it is a slow receed. I wouldn't feed. There's really no reason to. I dip the chalice in coral rx or tropic marin pro coral cure (I have both it's just whatever I feel like) I leave it in a the container for around 5-7 mins at recommended dosage with a koralia pump to make sure water movement. I'll even point the pump at the receeding area of the chalice for 10 seconds or so. I do this every other day for three treatments. Works for me. I do leave the skelton, it seems as tho the new growth is faster when the skelton is present. While it is ugly, I just turn it around so I don't have to see it.
