ive used both in my tanks for years with every tang imaginable and never had a problem
blue tangs have a history of looking at them funny and they come down with something.
i would first look at water and then nutrition and provide vitamin suppliments with food and make sure your feeding him veggies

I do feed veggies every day, what do you recommend in the way of vitamins? and yes my blue tang has been a problem child since the day I got him
