Chevron tang acclimation

It sounds like something bacterial, but a closeup photo would help with the diagnosis.

I also read that it can be from over grazing coursing the mouth scales to fall of or something... could that be possible

I may have just been freaking out a bit... spent a lot of money on this fish. I looked back at the pictures of him when the owner has him and noticed a little bit of white on his lips in the picture. It's hard to tell but it's there. I'll try and get a pic of him now but it's really hard because he barley comes out still

This is one of two pictures... it wouldn't let me load the other for some reason.

It could also be small sores on his mouth... I really need some help with this though because I don't want to leave and then come back to him dead or about to die(I'm going to be gone until Friday night) could someone please help me out

Found some more pictures online of kind of what it looks like but his is more white... still not sure what it is or what to do

@Jack Eskay What I'm seeing in your photo is normal for a Bristletooth tang. They do swim with their mouth kinda open and it does look sorta white inside. They will also chew on sand/gravel sometimes (and even eat a little to help digest food), so that might be causing "white mouth" as well. ;)

Thank you, That makes me feel a lot better! I'll send a picture of him once he comes out of hiding probably this weekend. Also he's still ignoring the nori but I did see him grazing on the brown algae in my tank earlier today. Should I be worried about that or just wait and see if he comes around to it later this weekend.

It can take a while for fish to "learn" that they need to eat their nori. ;)

He's doing really good now... I still can't get him to eat nori but he's picking at algae in the tank all day and loving mysis shrimp. He's still really shy but comes out slot more.

I've found that chevron are quite shy for awhile -- but with other less shy tangs they tend to come out more, seeming to feed off of their boldness.

Yea... it's so pretty funny, right now he won't eat nori but he absolutely loves mysis. Pretty odd

Inside of my chevrons mouth is white, normal for this fish. My experience with bristles is that they are less enticed by nori that other tangs. I have 7 and the only one that has never taken to the clip is my (now adult colored) chevron. It spends most of its time scraping the rocks or the glass. Also takes brine and mysis.

My chevron was the last of the 7 and took quite a beating initially from my purple. Was well quarantined so plenty of reserves to survive, and is now largely left alone. Purple is back to sparring with the yellow.
