I tested this on the counter. Totally blinded my eye (not actually blind.. But the similar effect of a camera flash only it lasted for a couple minutes of the outline of a fixture lol..)

That's how it should be done!!!!
IMO set the white blue ratio by eye. And mark it. I.e. 2 to 1 etc. and I'd start at 22000 lux at the top of the water. More than like let you'll wind up eventually at 35 to 40000 lux. But do it over time. Like a month or more. To acclimate.

Here's the deal.
The sun at high noon is 100000 lux.
It's par constant is 50
100k divide by 50 is 2000 par.

From long research and folks with par an lux meters. Mars Aqua at 1 to 1 is a 63.

So every 6000 lux on your light is 100 par approx. so increasing 1500 Lux per week is a good way to acclimate.

If you don't like the red and there's no adjustment. Pull the lens.

I've been thinking about this light a lot in the last few months. Specificaly for the lack of the "yellow" whites. The 4 channel controllability is nice too. What plug and play issues have you had?
I meaned plug and play as plug the light on and set timer as with t5 for example. But with this led i don't know how to set up the channels! I start my aqua two month ago with this light. For now i have problems with water, it is not clear. It is whitish, many protozoa algae, all montiporas i've bought RIP. I understand my tank is maturing but i think the large problem is with led's. Maybe someone can tell how and help with settings of my lights wright and i became led lover ))
Now i have 85% channel 2 and 3 (blue and royal), cannel 1 max 15% (white) and cannel 4 0% (yellow and warm white) . From 9:00 to 20:00. It looks very ugly...

Please ignore the temporary stand... But this light I bought is driving me nuts over the red green color. I'm going to return it. Better now while I still can.

I bought two of the same lights for my 40 gallon and had the same problem . I thought about returning them but held on to them and ran them for about a week and the colors stopped having the spotlight effect . I've grown to really like the lights now .

How? Do they need to be broken in or?

Photo please :)

I'll keep it for another two weeks see what happens. :)
You also have coralline algae right? Maybe that helps mask the color I'm thinking. I was planning to add some purple up eventually.
you can pull the lenses, it stops the spotlighting. youll keep a lot of shimmer. I wont help the color

Thanks for the idea. Is that an easy project? Would they be hard to put back on? Or do they like twist off? :)
you tube it first. its pretty easy, on some ,mine, they are actually just set in. you pul the back off lift out the guts and the lenses are there. med easy DIY. Ill post a pic of my light. I did a hybred.

How is your light doing?

*cough* very good

Oh.. You mean the other light.. Yes well I couldn't help myself I just returned it and charged the extra to get an aqua illumination light. Assuming I upgrade my tank in the future I am very happy with the upgrade.. Expensive but I've been trying to work some overtime to cover it.
