I have a 20 gallon tank: 24 in L x 12 in W x 16 in H

I would like to add some soft corals; devil's hand, green start polyps, toadstool - what are suggestions you have for lighting?

Lots of factors. The biggest is how much do you want to spend. There are led fixtures as much as 900+

So lets start with price point.

OK, just to call you out on a really stupid statement. Why do you think you would be wasting money on the Noopsyche?

Have you owned one? Did it fail on you?

Please don't make statements you cannot possibly back up.

Just to defuse this a bit, I read his statement as: not to waste money on buying a bracket for the 26, but rather make your own. Not implying that the noopsyche is a waste.

After this is pointed out. I can see your point. I totally misread it.

My apologies to the person who made this post.

I will delete my statement.

Yes but you pay a little more and get a good light and bracket you can do it on your own not waste money:)
i am a girl, so i definitely am not going to be doing any DIY building construction things (not saying other girls can't or won't) but without my dads help, i'm kind of lost around a drill or angels or anything that involves constructing something that isn't a lego :P

Watching!
In the same boat as OP.
My daughter's tank, yet to be set up is exact same size/dimensions and needs a light.
Looking at the SB Reef extreme 18" WiFi for under $300 @dantimdad may be able to fill us in on these?
It will still be a few months before getting set up so I'm also watching the real black box light study as well to see if there's a best bang for your buck light to be had.

Hello,

First welcome to R2R lots of lovely people and lots of info. It’s awesome that there is another girl and even better she plays with legos :) so much fun.

So this question from @AquariumDani is kinda a loaded question. Way too many opinions and or options etc and taste. All of them are good and valid and all are the worse and the greatest. I highly suggest some research, such as visiting your local aquarium or viewing other tanks. Find some that you like based on visual and color. All of these are good lights but they vary greatly in color of corals. One may be super blue others may be natural, but what are your likes.

You mentioned price point, of less than 300. Yes people will throw eggs and argue with me, but lol I can support what I offer. I would go with the current marine pro loop granted you may or may not go larger and you stick with softies and lps. They can handle some lower sps, but any clams or higher corals you will need the model 4117 60 degree version for success. If you look @120reefkeeper his tank is amazing and uses these lights. Current usa also has thee best service I have seen on anything. You could go up to probably a 90 gallon with these, but anything larger is pushing it. There are some other leds but most of the ones mentioned you will need two of them, with your tank a 20 long you will have too much shadow on the ends. That’s with the hydra 26 prime and kessill. The current usa is a strip light 24 inches long with 90 degree lens no shadow and will cover length and front to back. Just some thoughts for you to consider as you shop for lights.

I disagree and agree.
The current USA lights are great for everything but SPS and clams.
@120reefkeeper has not said/proven that these lights will work long term.
I used them on softies and lps, but they couldn’t support sps.
Just my 2 cents!
