Hi everybody!
I have started a nano reef tank. I found so many useful tips on this site. I have found a little starfish on top of a zoas frag.
please, can anyone ID?

Welcome, hard to tell from the pic but maybe spider?

That definately looks like a spider it dose not look like a brittle star too many legs i would be ware of spiders because they feed on zoas , also welcome to r2r but i had to get that out there i would get it out and get a better photo for positive ID.

Welcome to Reef2Reef! That appears to be a pycnogonid sea spider, some of which will eat zoanthids by sucking the juices from within the zoa like a mosquito. I would wait to take it out unless you either catch it in the act or if you're zoas show signs of stress. As mentioned above, they can do no harm to you or any other inhabitants.
Good luck, stay safe and God bless!

Welcome to Reef2Reef! Definitely a "zoa eating spider" not an actual spider but will likely cause problems. You can remove it manually but I've also found Halichoeres wrasses to be very good at eating them. The yellow coris wrasse is a good one for natural pest control.

hi welcome to the reef going to love it here!!
lots of fun/info/fun/help/fun....
