are you referring to cloudy water or particles floating around in the water?

Carbon with clear it up. If you have coral and the water has been cloudy for a while be careful not to burn the coral as the lighting will be more intense with clear water,

I don't have corals yet.. But I was told it wasn't a good thing to add carbon if I was planing on adding coral in the future.. =/

I have run carbon in one tank for 19 months that holds soft coral and have not had any carbon related issues. I have been running it on a mixed reef now for 6 months with no problems. I think as long as you change it out as directed then you should have no issues.

yep, carbon will definitely help and does not harm corals or fish. (it is a valid point above though to watch your lighting intensity when you first add it).

Its been said carbon can cause problems with tangs sometimes. I never had any issues with my Yellow Eye Kole tang using it, but something to watch for. If you start seeing signs of HLLE you may want to stop using it if you have any tangs.

Yeah I currently have a yellow tang that is very healthy I surely don't want to do him any harm but I will run carbon in a small dosage.

HOT Magnums are supposed to be pretty good water clarifiers. I've heard of people running them after water changes, or even just an hour or 2 a day.

Carbon is good for clearing up your water, just rinse well to avoid carbon dust getting loose in the tank. Some carbons are also better about dusting then others, like bulk reef supply's ROX carbon.

Don't know your experience level but Ozone will clear up your water. But be Careful. Dangerous stuff

So what's a good carbon to get.? I'm going out of town to a lfs store to make some purchases this weekend. Perfect time to get good info from you guys..
