I've had this problem in the past and added a cheap UV. I bought the "SunSun JUP-02 5W" unit from amazon for $25. Cleared it up in about 24 hours.

Can't you put the fish in a different tank or even a bucket for a couple days while you empty all the water? Then put them back in the tank with all clean water just long enough so you can observe them ( another day of two) since your fallow time is up? Think of it as a short TTM.
You need to just leave it alone. As a third party observer it's clear that your frequent water changes are encouraging and extending the bacteria bloom. If the fish are healthy and eating leave it alone for a week and see how it does.
im sorry hun.
Can run coppersafe with UV, right?
Yes. I do at the store with no problems and our UV is enormous.
That post was supposed to say, "can't", but I guess you can? I didn't know that.
Yes sir. There are some meds you can't use it with of course, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. I just know that I do this at the store with copper and prazi and I test the copper levels every day I'm there to be sure they are on point. No problems with that or with the fish aside from the occasional bacterial infection or intestinal worms.

What size was your tank?
Mine QT is 10 gals. You could likely use the same unit on a larger tank.
Hey Break,
I was thinking about your problem and a time when I had a ridiculous cloudiness related to what I assumed was a bacterial bloom. It was in a display tank that had been running for a few months and it really came out of nowhere and just kept getting worse. I tried frequent large water changes, changing socks, adding filter floss, etc.
Because I did so many things I can't pin down what actually solved my issue. However, the last thing I did (and then the issue went away a couple days later) was adding a new piece of (dry) live rock. I don't know if there is a correlation between bacteria in the water column and bacteria having a place to live, but maybe you could try adding another sponge(?) or something to your quarantine and see if it helps at all?
Can't really say if it will work, but its something I was tossing around in my head today. Perhaps someone more familiar with bacteria could chime in on there being any relation.
I dont get it! I did three straight days of 50% water changes and it's still just as cloudy!
Could it be on the glass?
