Hi,

It's Likely that your clown may have a parasitic infection. It could be ICH, Brook, Velvet, flukes, etc.

If it were me, I would remove that fish and put him in QT with theraputic level of Copper. Of course, you will want to raise copper level in a 48 hour period. Not all at once.

Please let me know what visual symptoms you see on the body if they present. I'll try to identify and we'll go from there.

I have noticed that every once in awhile its like he swims sideways. Hard to explain

You need to act quick. Pull him and start copper treatment if you want to save him.

Have you noticed any rubbing up against rocks or swimming near surface or by returns?

No usually stays couple inches from bottom right now he is out and swimming around

No looks normal also I dont have QT tank set up yet how is a fast way to set one up

Ok I get 10 gallon tank do I use new water or do partial water change and use that if I use new water how long before I put him in

Just use DT water.

Then replace it when you make new water.

If you want to use new water, make sure it's aged 24 hrs, temp and SG match to his previous water. You can put him right in.

If it's not matched, just drip acclimate him for 30 mins.

May I ask how you cycled your tank? 3 weeks is a pretty young tank to have added fish. It could be that the fish is reacting to problems related to this.

I bought it from someone it all ready had rock and live rock for about 2years

What EXACTLY are your parameter numbers?

If your clown has built up excess mucus in its gills from a parasite irritant, a short FW dip should help clear that out and ease his breathing a little while the copper does its job.
