What EXACTLY are your parameter numbers?

If your clown has built up excess mucus in its gills from a parasite irritant, a short FW dip should help clear that out and ease his breathing a little while the copper does its job.

Eienna is right, a freshwater dip can relieve symptoms.

Can you tells us exact params as stated above?

Also, can you provide more details about your system and how it's setup & equipment.

A few pics would be nice. Also need to see a pic of the fish and your display to further assess the problem.

My salinity Is 0.024. Ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0 nitrate is 5. And I use a refractometer to test and I used r/o water to calibrate meter .

My guess would be that the clown may have Brook. Total guess.

Read up on clownfish disease and be aware of what to look for.

If it's only the one fish, I bet he's got something.

System looks good...sterile, but good.

No, just PVC. Get the Seachem Cupramine copper. Follow the instructions on back. Order Selifert Copper test kit. Accurate and simple

I mean new. Bleach white dry rock, no algae, no good bacteria, no stability yet.

Agree noway that is 2 year old rock without something being done to it

I am just going by what the guy I bought it off of said about age of aquarium and rocks here is some close ups of the rock also I am using a phone for camera so not sure on quality

just want to chime in again and let you know why I'm questioning you on the cycle and such. From the picture which is very hard to tell, it does not seem to be an obvious illness (ich, velvet) and if the only symptom is breathing heavily - I might try to increase oxygen in the water - I'm not convinced that you cycled your tank completely although your numbers do suggest it's ok - 3 weeks is a very quick cycle unless you used all water, aged rock, and live sand from an existing system and possibly some beneficial bacteria. If there is lack of beneficial bacteria, fish can be affected by that - ammonia being the most harmful. Taking a stressed fish and putting in a less than optimal QT situation (with perhaps a lack of beneficial bacteria) may be its demise.

That rock is definitely not 2 years old. The rock would be lucky to be 3 months old. If your ammonia is reading 0, then your tank is probably cycled.

I just really don't see how it would have cycled in 3 weeks with the bleached white dead rock. dead sand etc...

Just fw dip for about 5 minutes. If the fish acts really weird, this is normal. I would do multiple fw dips, rather than a long dip. Dip and return to HT and let fish recover. Then dip again later.

Keep looking for visual symptoms. If your water params are off, the fishes breathing will slow down in the HT. Then you'll know.

Got his first dip just now I put him in HT and he is acting lost. Hope this is the right thing to do my is not happy with me right now
