So I know this is asked all that time, so thank you in advance for being patient with me. I have two clowns in QT getting ready for the DT. One has with white stringy poop (the darker one). I have yet to catch the other one poop. They are eating fine and look amazing other than the poop. I have been dosing with PraziPro. I don't have a picture of them pooping, but when if I catch them in the act, I'll add.

I did read through this link: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/internal-pathogens.267419/

I have been soaking their food (Frozen LFS mysis) in garlic and VitaChem. I'm going to get some Metrapro or general cure (whichever I find at the LFS) to put on their food as well.

Should I be soaking the food in prazipro too? Do I still need to add focus to the food even though they're in a QT tank?

About how long should I expect it to take for the Prazipro/Metropro to cure the parasites?

You will want to soak the food in either metro or general cure.

General cure covers intestinal worms and parasites.

Metro only covers intestinal parasites.

Definitely don't add Prazipro to the food if you are using general cure as it contains praziquantel the main ingredient in Prazipro.

I have never had any luck getting fish to eat food soaked with Prazipro.

Treat for a minimum of 14 days. As long as you don't see anymore white stringy poop. Sometimes it can take up to 21 days to fully erradicate.

General cure contains both metronidazole AND praziquantel, and will treat both intestinal worms and flagellates. That would be my recommendation.

I use 2 scoops of General cure + 1 scoop of seachem focus (binder, is important-attaches the medication to the food)+ 1 tablespoon of food. Feed at least twice a day for 10-14 days, or as long as 3 weeks if needed.

Use General Cure, it covers internal parasites and worms, both produce white stringy poop. GC has both Prazi and Metro.

Its important to begin this right away before they stop eating and then the prognosis becomes grim. Treat both fish.

Treat for 14 days but makes sure white poop has stopped

2 scoops of GC?? I was under the impression to use 1 per the Seachem Focus instuctions?

1 should be enough. I use 1 scoop of GC and 1 scoop of focus and don't usually have any trouble erradicating intestinal parasites and worms.

So I'll look for GC and focus. But first, I treated the water with Prazipro two or three days ago. I've been doing water changes everyday, since it's such a small tank, so the concentration might not be as high. Is the GC okay to use on the food considering the water has Prazipro in it?

It's ok to do both simultaneously, no worries there.

I’ve always used two scoops, to account for the lower dose of metronidazole.

1 scoop of metroplex has roughly 87-88 mg of metronidazole (considering seachem’s note of 70% purity)where General cure has 250mg metronidazole per packet. So, you would need to use around 1/3 of a packet to get the same dosage, and even at 2 scoops per batch... I usually get 4-5 batches per packet.

I mean, less is more so if it works with one scoop that’s great. I’ve just always used two, myself and it never seemed to hurt [emoji2372]

How much food do you put in per batch? I kind of guesstimated.

So it's weird to talk about fish poop - I feel like I have an infant again - but how does normal poop come out for clown fish? Like is it a string or is it fast? She may have pooped some brown poop this afternoon, but it came out fast and didn't stay attached at all. I wasn't sure if it actually came from her or was just junk floating in the water. I have still not seen the smaller fish poop. I guess he's more conservative and discrete.

Healthy fish poop would look like diarrhea.

However if they get backed up sometimes you will see brown or green stringy poop which isn't an issue.

I'll keep watching their poops. How many days after the last white stringy poop are they safe to transfer to the DT? I had already been treating with prezipro before I read something about the white stringy poop and thus, knew to look for it. So those days may have already been working to clear it up. I also did a 30 minute formalin dip first thing. I'm not sure if I added enough formalin to the bath to do anything. I figured I could always do another bath if it looked like they were developing Brook. I was afraid to stress them out too much though.

Prazi in the water won't do much, they need it via food.

I always observe fish for a full two weeks after treatment to make sure all is good before moving to the DT.

Sounds like they've got you covered with a good a plan. Keep us in the loop with the scoop on the poop ;)

That made me giggle. I have an affinity for alliteration, but rhyming isn't bad either.

If they're eating and acting fine I wouldn't worry and wouldn't do anything to treat honestly. Clowns have weird poop sometimes. It's not necessarily a sign of illness.

Since yours are in qt, I'd just watch them for a while and if they behave as if they are healthy then imo they are.

They are eating and swimming and seem to be doing well. They keep rubbing against each other, like they're cuddling. I love it!

You see cuddling, I see a poor guy being put in his place. :p

In his case, he sure seems to enjoy being put there. ;P They haven't fought at all. I've only seen the seizure dance once and they both were doing it to each other.

In that case, we would be definitely delighted with dutiful display of a defecation demonstration.

BAHAHAHA! That was truly amazing! Bravo!
