I recieved a second lightning maroon today. after acclimation and finally seeing him in the tank under my blues it appears he has a underbite/swollen lip. I will post a picture when my whites come on.
Has anyone had this problem? any disease I should be aware of that can inflate the clowns lips? if it is an underbite would I be wrong asking for a refund?

It could be a defect that will do nothing more then add character:) I have a clown that one side of her jaw sticks out further then the other. I have had her for years and she is currently laying eggs like clockwork. That said, I personally wouldn't return him for that and would just keep an eye on him to see what happens, if anything, but this is your call:) do you have any pics?

Ill have some up shortly, just waiting for the whites to come on. it looks a lot like you described in your clown and I do agree it does add character. I don't think I would return him, I take that back.. Just wanna make sure he/she's a healthy fish. hoping to pair it up with my very small lighting I got a week ago.

I would have an issue with being sent a lightening with physical abnormalities. Did you get this from a lightning breeder?

I would assume that they are. Reason I made the purchase. I couldn't agree more about having an issue, why I mentioned a return. But how would that even work? He reminds me of a large mouth bass.

I'm not sure what that means about the video. I can PM you my email and you could send it to me, if you would like. I know they're working on having videos uploadable to this site, but I'm not sure if it's working yet.

Let's wait and see some pics. Did his price reflect any defects? If not you could probably ask for a partial refund or store credit being that these guys are not usually cheap. That all falls on the LFS and how willing they are to work with you though.

The best I can get on my phone, I will have my camera later and try and grab better ones. Seem just one side (his leftside lower lip) has a bump/swollen

I feel like he just has a stern look and that lots of clownfish look like that this one is just a little exaggerated. Definitely far from expert opinion just my .02 cents

Some clowns do seem to have an under bite yet when these are exaggerated, they should be culled. Especially if someone plans of breeding the clowns themselves... you certainly can't show breeding stock that has undesirable traits. I'm not "up" on clowns, but others who are may be able to tell you if the lip is more exaggerated than they normally are from the screen captures of the video.

Seems to be just an underbite. I don't see anything else to worry about. If it's able to eat normally, and you're not planning to breed them for sale (like Rene mentioned) then I wouldn't worry about it. You can watch it and be sure he doesn't develop a white nodule or bump on the lip or chin. If that happens, then you'll want to treat with antibiotics, but for now just watch.

it kinda seems like the start of a small bump on that left side. thanks for the heads up tho, i will keep an eye on it. I eventually wanted to breed but Wont be now. He wasn't interested in the first feeding today just to note also.

Nice pattern on that fish. She's pouting because she doesn't like what your feeding her.

May I ask what the going price is for these now-a-days?
well This Breed was on sale for $99 from $160. also had a BF discount to save 25%. seemed to good to pass up. I also just snagged one locally for $40 lower grade though. Someone else may know more.
