I'm not sure what is going on with my male clown, he had like a hazey coating over his body and cloudy eyes a few days ago which cleared up for the most part then yesterday white spots all over him, and this afternoon the spots are gone. Here's a picture of him 6am this morning

I just bought a 20 starter kit from top fin today, making Rodi water now! I have 2 pairs of clowns, flame angel, and diamond goby in my 40b... I'm going to one of the several near by lfs first thing In the morning what is the best thing for me to treat with and how?? Do I need to put all my fish in qt and treat together?? Thank you all for fast responses!

All fish will need to be treated. You can seed the quarantine tank with some filter floss from your display if you have some. I would imagine your lfs will have copper or cupramine. You will need that plus a test kit for it to get started. I wouldn't waste any time

Im going to be mixing water and adding it to the new tank in the morning and will be at the store as soon as they open.. should I add all freshly mixed saltwater of half fresh and half from my display tank??

I don't think it will matter much either way but personally I would do al new water. Also, check out the "medicines to keep on hand" thread. There are several medications on there that can be used as a bath for fish with velvet.

Wow! You got some great advice already! I'll just add my 2 cents here that will probably echo what they all already said. That's velvet. Take all the fish out and put into QT asap. You'll want to treat with copper. I recommend coppersafe, but cupramine will also work. You'll need a test kit for the copper (coppersafe will need the API kit, Cupramine will need the seachem kit). Treat for 30 days straight. Leave the display fallow for 76 days to be safe or a minimum of 6 weeks.

X3 on all fronts

Thank you all and thanks for the time lines, after all this I'm going to qt before adding anything else! So on the velvet link it says to do a dip with another med just before adding to qt with copper.. should I try and do that before treating with copper in the qt? Or take right from my Dt and add into my qt with copper?

I would follow Humble's directions (that's who wrote the info in that link) if you can.

@ryan316 All posts regarding your sick clownfish have been moved into this thread, so they don't get mixed up with the Purple Tang posts.

FYI; I agree with the advice given above. This is velvet and you need to move fast.

How often should I do water changes in my hospital tank while treating with cupramine?? It's 20gal..

Thank you, how often and how much should I do water changes in my hospital tank while treating with cupramine?? It's 20 gallon

As often as you need to keep ammonia in check. If ammonia isn't a problem, then once a week or so would be fine.

dejavu. You'll do water changes as often as you need to keep the ammonia at zero. If ammonia isn't a problem, then you would do them about once a week. Be sure to treat any new water with copper before adding it to the tank.

Just remeber to retreat the new water with some more CP, and retest copper levels.
