I swear by LRS reef frenzy I have 4 clowns and 1 blue spotted puffer and they all go absolutely bananas for it, also if you plan to add corals/inverts they love it, it’s also a super clean food specially if you feed pinky nail sized portions

At some point I do want to add corals, I've just got to wait until my tank is ready for that. I just started my salt water tank about 1 month ago. So, I am very much a beginner on salt water.
Honestly, corals are more hardy than fish in a new tank. They feed on nitrates and phosphates, so in my opinion/experience, you can throw easier corals in at any time.
Ok, any suggestions on what type of corals I could add?

Zoas are a very hardy coral with a wide variety of colors. Some mushrooms, various LPS such as blastos, acans, candy cane/trumpet coral. Green star polyps and pulsing xenia are very hardy and a good "beginner coral", however I am not a fan due to their ability to spread super fast and take over a tank.
cant you just peel gsp off the rock or glass and throw it in the trash if u want though?
Honestly, I have never kept it. I think if just depends on your aqua scape. I suppose that would work if you were able to pull the rocks out. I have always liked the way it looks on the back glass of tanks.
Ha, I'm pretty new to this and glad to see there is at least one other person that "throws" the pellets at the water to get them to sink! And I'm glad you got them eating.
You can not just peel GSP off rock if you don’t like it. It is VERY difficult and I have to scrub mine off with a steel brush. The glass I think you can just peel it off.
Not sure if you saw my post that one of my hermit crabs caught and was eating one of my clowns. So, now I'm down to only one. I'm so sad and a little mad. I had no idea I had to worry about that. I keep trying to encourage this little guy to swim higher!!

I went through a handful of clowns when I started. It was either due to clownfish disease, or ammonia being too high and tank that’s too fresh. I gave up on clowns altogether and got a springer damsel and fire fish. Never had any problems with those fish and the other fish I added after. I might try clowns again but honestly in my experience they aren’t as hardy as people say but that’s just me.By the way....I lost one of my new clowns due one of my hermit crabs eating it. No one prepared me for that. They did seem to swim low so I guess he got got by a crab. I does seem as though the one that is left is swimming a little higher today. Hopefully, he/she (?) will keep that up.

Anemones need around 200 par from what I hear. I’m not sure about how they react to chemistry and flow that much but I guess it’s somewhat close to lps corals. There’s a lot of info about it on forums and YouTube I’m sure.
Anemones need very stable water. Its recommended a tank be running for at LEAST a year before an anemone can be added. Unless very experienced I wouldnt add an anemone any time soon. They are very sensitive to changes and parameter swings. A 40 gallon tank might also be a little small if you plan on adding corals too. The anemone will sting them and depending on the species anemones can grow pretty big
its funny that you say that, i picked up 2 clowns from petco recently when i stopped in to browse and i was really surprised at how well all their fish seemed to be doing and the one employee in charge of the fish actually seemed pretty knowledgeable about it. Maybe they are stepping their game up. I always remember their fish looking very sad and unhealthy before.
