Hello,my brs co2 scrubber all of a sudden stopped maintaining ph. Its pulling air and pump to skimmer is fine, checked for kinks/clogs and media is brand new. It was maintaining 8.1 to 8.3 up till yesterday and now its barely 7.8 via apex probe which I calibrated twice and cross checked against red sea test kit. Any ideas??

Did you try changing the media again?

I would put the old media into a bucket put new stuff in and see what happens.

I've put a line from my skimmer lid into one side of my media chamber and just recirc skimmer air.

This keeps media moist (it works better moist) and just burns the co2 out of the system.

I have twice, and put the same amount of water in it (about 2 tsps) says to make sure media doesn't touch it. I am at a loss since it just randomly stopped after having it a year with no issues

I would try unplugging it and seeing if your ph changes or not.

Also you can put your ear to the end of the chamber and listen for the skimmer pulling air.

You can also breath through the co2 media to see if air flow is restricted (It's safe they use it in diving scrubbers and anethisism? you know where they know people and animals out for surgery)

If air flow is not blocked, and skimmer is breathing through media, only thing left is bad media.

Its pulling air I can hear it, I also unplugged from skimmer and bubbles went away, went to straight water so it must be working....also rinsed tubing out with ro water so no blockages. Just opened new thing of media and switched it out. We shall see in an hour or so. If no change then I'm clueless

Hopefully that's it.

When I said unplug from skimmer I meant the canister, so you can compare on your apex with canister and without.

It's been an hour and no change at all... so frustrating and the weird thing is,its drying up the water at the bottom I put in but no chang ed in level

Do you run and electric furnace or gas for heating your home? Gas burning appliances add tons of CO2 to the house.

Could be a bad batch I suppose. Or for some reason your tank is absorbing CO2 else where like in the overflow or surface agitation. You may have an over abundance of CO2 at the moment. Not sure how cold it is where you are,but if you could open a window or two to pull a draft through your house and flood it with fresh air and see if that makes a difference.

Possibly, I guess I need to be more patient and it's only 18 f here..a bit to cold to open windows
