I have 3 neo therm heaters in my 75 gallon tank for redundancy, 1 200w and 2 50w, i noticed that even with all 3 set to 78 my tank temperature has been slowly dropping to 75 throught the course of a month. Today i woke up a d noticed my corals arent too happy and to find out its down to 73.5 now. I know before this heaters had issues but i thought they fixed that. Is there any way to reset them? Or just set the temperature higher to 80?

If it were me and I believed the heaters weren’t operating correctly I would junk them and get new before anything worse happened. Perhaps use them for water changes but I wouldnt trust them in the tank any longer.

I had a Neotherm cook a Biocube and personally do not trust them.

I would pull them and check each one in a bucket of water with a accurate thermometer to make sure they are all calibrated.. honestly those things make me nervous especially the higher wattage ones, I have a small one in a Biocube and it works great but I’m constantly worrying about it.

Alrighty will pull them out today, which heater do you trust? And how many watts would you get for a 95 gallon total volume?

If you have them hooked up to a timer or switch that turns it off/on constantly it can cause them to go bad.

Been many issues with these heaters especially what you are experiencing along with swelling of the heater body.

I had a 200W go out on me a month ago. Only worked flawlessly for 3 years. The thermostat wouldnt hold temp. I could unplug it and it would work for a few days then lose temp again. I replaced it with a new 300W Neotherm, no issues with it, holds temp at 77.9°F when set to 78... close enough for me.

Strange mines has only been running for 6 months, one of them for only 2 months since i got it thinking that maybe the 200W and 50W couldnt handle it but i guess i was wrong.

The thermostats seem to fail cold on these often. I guess I've been lucky. They do have a built in over temp protection, but I dont know when that actually kicks in.

Redundantcy is always a good idea with heaters, and a relay of some type to kill them if they over heat.

I have 2x Neotherms on my 40 gallon and I really like these heaters. I keep my tank between 73-75 degrees constantly and all of my corals are thriving.

So i spoke to cobalt amd they said that i can reset the heater by disconnecting it for 30 mins, lets see if this works. Im changing it regardless since that gets me anxious.

Yup just tried the reset method and nothing, gonna wait on the brs heaters to be for sale.

Just a troubleshooting question... When you do a water change do you cut the power to the heaters to make sure they aren't running outside of being fully submerged?

Sounds like ur heaters are not calibrated right from the factory I always had great success with Eheim heaters I’ve heard those heaters are not that great
