Code Enforcement busting my chops about my tanks in garage!

Wow most my neighbors did was ask why are windows are glowing blue at night lol.

That's just insane, ya in your garage, of your house. It's no like yor stealing electrical and water from your neighbors. Last house we were in someone was stealing cable. Cable guy fixed it, threw days later are cable went out at 1 am. Ten minutes later was back on. Needless to say the guy next door with the flashlight and a ladder at the pole went to jail haha. People just like to control what others are doing and how they live there life. Power to you and I hope the city just lets it go!! If your not paying home owners fees and all that crap don't see what right they have!!!

I had a landlord that was like that with my dog grooming business. I remote a house for 4 years and he would let me shave dogs in the basement. He wanted me to do it on the carpeted porch. When I moved out I left my last groom in the carpet for him.

Then one day he asks me to setup an aquarium in his office. I told him he can only put it in his basement.

The thing the code lady had said was that i was selling fish. How many fish do you see in the tanks? 3 fish a hybrid clown,goldflake maroon pair that's it told her i wouldn't sell any of them.
No one is paying me $3000 for my tomatolaris clown he is not for sale even for $5000 Ive had him since lil baby going on 3yrs. The systems are set up to grow corals for myself, 265 will be mother colonies and the other systems are for what i am calling the single polyp project. I going to frag single polyps like the Coral Maternity in Portugal. I have tons of API test tubes and hopefully everything works out.
The code lady understood, but i know the city is going to send a letter over in regards to my tanks. Not worried because not selling anything just mad as hell its like my tanks are outcast. What gets me real mad 1 no one lives across the street 2 no one lives next door or the house next to that 3 my neighbor on the other side is cool and helped lift these tanks along with guy across the street one house over.. WHO EVER COMPLAINED DOES NOT LIVE NEXT TO OR IN FRONT OF ME. Its better they keep the complaints anonymous i do not play games with neighbors. You bet if i find out who it is and if they keep causing me problems what ever pets are at that house are going to be sleeping with the fishes. Couple years back a neighbor way down the street had a big pitt bull that would get out all the time. One day the dog caught me in the back yard and ran towards me. I drove to the guys house and with a MAG 44 permanent marker wrote KEEP YOUR DOG IN YOUR YARD!! NEXT TIME IT CHARGES ME IM GOING TO KICK YOUR HEAD OFF!!... Wow this guy went door to door knocking looking for the person who lit up his door. I wasnt home lady next to me saw him on rampage she loved it she hates the dog too. To this day the guy has duck tape over the writing on his door the crappiest house on the block. Have not seen the dog in at least 2 years problem solved. Its a nice neighborhood it really is working to keep it that way not having lose pitt bulls running around go move to the hood.

This is disturbing me more than it should haha. Why would someone complain about that? Also not all pits are bad. It's the people. I have two and they're the sweetest dogs ever. Oh and I love that shallow tank!

I once had a swat raid on my house during a BBQ with a few friends. A couple of my neighbors thought I was a drug sealer in 2002 because of my halides. There should be no reason Code Enforcement came out. MAYBE Fish and Game but thats the silliest thing I've ever heard.

You sound like just as big of a whiny ***** as they do, threatening to kill peoples pets because they complained about your lights and tanks. Maybe they think your growing weed or bringing down the values in the neighborhood just like you don't like the guy with the "hood" dog. I'd take my pitts over your hybrid clown any day.

People need to stop putting their nose where it don't belong. What can code enforcement do? It's your garage! They only way the city could have any sayso is if you were running a commercial business (selling coral) from your residential location. Otherwise, its a hobby and to my knowledge they could not due much other than the neighbors having a petition in place and having a court order.

You work hard to have a home so that you can live your life and people who hate theirs(life that is) have to do what they can to bring you down. Sounds cliche but just ignore them & do what you do, in the end you win because your doing what makes you happy. Where did you learn to build the tanks? How hard is it?

Waiting now for some stupid letter to show up from the city with there "thoughts" on my garage. If my reef goes so do all the dogs,cats and birds on the block I will bag them myself.

Even if you were selling fish wouldn't that be fine? When I raise my clowns eggs I just post an add and that's it. Even if you were to sell your hybrid its your decision

I they force you to get rid of the tanks here is what you should do:

Take your setup to a pet store for store credit and have them use that to special order a silverback gorilla that can inhabit your garage in place of your nonprofit black market observation center.

I sell corals, fish, rocks, algaes, used gear, and even my services. Nobody says anything but cool! Of course i don't make enough actual income off of it to matter. I only have 90, 55, 30, 24, and 20 gallons of animals.

I hate it when people just bring home dogs and expect them to behave. I use to live by some people who owned two huge Samoas. They had no fence and where not trained. They would literally stalk and chase small women and children (snarling and biting). My golden retriever (who is usually the most chill dog ever) took one look at the bigger Samoa and apparently did not like what he saw because he peed on its head. LOL

Later the bigger Samoa attacked a woman and her baby and my good ol' Golden went nuts on the Samoa. The whole street forced them to get a fence when it ended with a kid being nearly mauled and his father kicking the dog in the head.

What, you actually think he is going to go on a pet raid? You're just saying this because you own a pit bull. Newsflash, he was mad at the owner doing crappy job of owning a pit bull, not the pitbull itself.

As mad as the topic of the nosey neighbors makes me I'd sure hate to see the thread get shut down if everyone can't follow the rules.

Got a visit this morning from code enforcement that someone "2" complaining about my tanks. Had a nice conversation with the lady that this is my hobby and dont want to hear any lip from the neighbors. Its cool for them to have 2-3 dogs in back yard with dog houses but i cant keep aquariums in my own garage? But im sure i can keep 20 cats or birds or some other animals right? Duh well ya, So i take the tanks a little over the top. No baby tanks at this house my sump is 300 gallons. So what when i hit garage opener at night the tanks light up the street it looks nice. Bottomline these "fish" live in glass aquariums and they need equipment to run pumps,lights,skimmers,chillers. Sure i could put 1,400 gallons in my living room but its not going to happen because its MY HOUSE. I will put a tank where ever the hell i want..Period THATS WHY I HAVE A HOUSE AND NO HOME ASSOCIATION.
Flat out told them tuff **** tanks stay if neighbors want to give up there pets then maybe i will think about moving tanks..Till then feel free to stop by and check out some cool aquariums.
