I thought: Should I empty the skimmer cup? Na, no one will notice it...
Well, I usually don't run it that full, this is probably 2 weeks of skimmate. I like to skim wet, otherwise all dirt will get stuck in the neck.
I really love your old skimmer! You should test it. In the last century I built my own four feet PVC-skimmer and it work well. But it is hard to place in a modern setup.
The sulphur reactor is a nitrate reducing unit. It converts nitrate to nitrogen. The flow through the reactor is very low. In the start it is only two or three drops per second.

The surface water here have a salinity of 27-29 ppt, but bottom water are 32-35 ppt. So I usually take water from the pipe, but half the times I mix RODI-water and salt.
