Hey R2R I was wondering how many of you are coral collectors and how many are growers? By that I mean I consider myself a collector because after my frags turn into a nice little mini colony I frag then and keep them pretty small because I just don't have the room for everything to grow out plus I trade the frags for other frags. What about the rest of you? Do you get more pleasure from nice colonies or lots of different colonies? For me I think part of it is I can see my growth almost day to day when I keep sps colonies small which keeps me interested.

I won't have anything for a while to get rid of as I'm waiting on Santa for my light (upgrade) and some other toys.

Corals that I have:
Oompa Loompa zoas - I've had for about 3 weeks, started off with 1 head and now have 2. Came from Ben @Supreme Reefs
Various types of mushrooms - my Rhods. are my best looking besides some type of orange that appeared off a zoa frag. Came from various places.
2 groups of green palys - 2 different colonies, 1st coral in tank.
2 Duncan heads (same stalk) - these look ok sometimes and crappy others (haven't figured out).
Orange colored monti - 3 weeks in.
Trumpet coral - another of the 1st.
A few other zoas that are nothing special that will be moved to my 20.
Had no luck with Xenia but I think I know why I lost the colony I did.

I've actually taken a break from adding fish this month to focus on what's going on and preparing for new toys to come. What I have isn't doing horrible as I have them under what will be going to my 20, but will do better under what they need to thrive. 1st of the year it's on as I'm not going after your typical tank in what I'm calling the "50/50".

I'm a total 100% newbie when it comes to corals.

Awesome! Sounds like your off to a good start:) well then "newbie" i don't think you have gone deep enough into this life of addiction to realize how hard it will be not to have like 200+ corals in your tank;)

I collect but have the problem of not being able to sell them fast enough to keep up with the growth. Last year my "trimmings" ended up being over 700 frags. And by frag I don't mean 1 polyp. I mean 3-10 polyps each. I could frag 3 polyps and by the time I could sell it it would be 5-10 polyps.

Same problem! I love wild sps colonies because they are such a surprise bag but I just don't have the room for the whole colony and getting rid of the frags is so hard!

Thats why I haven't gone to my LFS's this month hahaha that addiction is more than there and these forums only feed it more, do your friends really wanna hear what we talk about on here lol neither does my wife haha

I'm pretty sure the definition of addiction is a habit the negative effects the rest of your life...let's see blow at least as much money as drug addicts, talk friends and families ears off, and spend hours on and thinking about my tank daily. I love it:p

I'm not chopping up wild colonies. I'm growing out frags to the point where I could not keep up with the growth. I have grown 50 polyp colonies of zoa from 3 polyps in 30 days.

I wasn't just saying you were sorry could have worded that better. I do everything frags, colonies, signatures, chalices. So us I feel you I have one chalice colony in particular that I'm going to have to just start giving to friends for Christmas to get rid of it haha it's a nice chalice too. A toxic pie

What's your flow and light/how much on these?
I have a 6 bulb t5 on a 29 gallon with a 150gph hob and a jebao wp25. Right at a year ago I changed my bulb combo and quit feeding as much to stunt the growth. It worked lol

I was tired of having frag racks that looked like this constantly
