What are the 6? This has been helpful.
I was running 3 blue plus, 1 coral plus, 1 purple plus and 1 aquablue special. The purple plus was only being used for color. For more growth I would suggest replacing it with a coral plus. At the moment I'm using 3 blue plus and 3 pure actinic. Growth has slowed tremendously.

I forgot it use to have a seio 620 powerhead in there too.

I'm a grower. Years ago I was a collector and chased the latest and greatest name on the market. With a six foot 210 it costs way too much money to get every new coral on the market and more importantly a large tank looks unnatural and empty without many large colonies. In this picture the colonies you can see are from 4-8 inches across and IMO the tank looks empty.

In another year, it will look more full with 12 inch colonies like this.

The 50-50 will be using a LED to be able to control the spectrum and intensity for 36 inches of my tank and a six bulb T5 for the other part so that I can grow any coral my/wife's hearts desire. Reason being is that while I love coral and want them healthy, most of what I like fish wise seems to like and do better under more subdued light. This is an attempt to keep the fish happier and more colorful but also be able to grow any coral chosen. The best of both worlds :)

Long term I consider myself a grower, currently I'm back at square one with a new tank so I'm probably going to end up with too many SPS frags and have to decide which I want to keep. I agree with trido that a bunch of small colonies make a bigger tank look empty when compared to grown out colonies. Reefing is what you make of it, there are people who are in the hobby who only have frag tanks. To me that seems boring, but to those who do it it's not and I respect that.

I'm a collector of beautiful corals, not names. Sure if a named coral is beautiful I'll consider purchasing it and the same goes with no names. I can't count how many times I have said "ok the tank is full, no more corals" and pick up a few more the next week. You can always make room if need be. I guess I'm more on the grower side of things because the end vision for me is a tank full of colonies rather than a tank full of frags.
