Completely new and in over my head..

Why are you thinking you messed up? Are fish looking sick? Are your corals dying? I am sure many members here will be able to help you. We also have quite a few experts/professionals on board.
You may get different advises or opinions, and will have to decide which one make sense to you as each aquarium is unique, and people may have diverse ideas about resolving an issue.
Welcome.

Thanks!

My water parameters aren't great and I've got a yellow tang that has decided to be a jerk to my other tangs. My GSP coral is curling up and I may have cyano? I'm asking for help in the forum.
Also, post some pics!

Beautiful!!!! I can’t help with the fish but I’m sure someone chime in and let you know.

Hi everyone,

I've been using the forums for a while now to soak up as much information as possible, so I figured I should finally introduce myself. I'm an absolute beginner to aquariums in general and took over a 220G reef tank when I moved into my new house. I'm starting to think that was a mistake. I'm reading everything I can and watching BRS videos but I'm terrified I'm going to kill everything before I get this down. I'm incredibly grateful for any advice given.
Here's a list I was given of the tank specs:
  • 210 Reef ready Aquarium
  • 75-gallon custom refugium
  • 220 Reef Octopus Protein Skimmer
  • 2 X Mag 18 Return Pumps
  • ½ Horsepower Aquarium Chiller (JBJ Arctica Titanium Chiller)
  • 1 Hydor Koralia Powerhead
  • 2 system JBJ Powerheads
  • 2 X SB Reef Lights (REEF BLUE)
  • 3 X AI Prime+HD LED Lights
  • TOSHIBA A/C wall Unit
  • ATO (Automatic Top Off System) with 10-gallon reservoir
  • 36Watt Coralife Turbo-Twist UV Sterilizer
  • 225 pounds of live rock
  • AI NERO Powerhead

Yellow Tang, Purple Tang, Blue Hippo Tang, Flame Angel, Potter's Angel, Clownfish x3, Snowflake Moray, 2 unknown fish
Multiple LPS and softies

Nice to meet all of you!

Welcome! Glad you joined. I'm in Grand Prairie, so perhaps we are close to each other. There is a great local club called Dallas Fort Worth Marine Aquarium Society (www.dfwmas.org). They'll have an info booth at Ft Worth Coral Farmers Market event this Sunday. Texas has Aquashella in August and Reef A Palooza in October, so its a big year!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

The fish you asked about is a tang, well a member of the surgeonfish family for sure. A little hard to tell from the photo but maybe an Atlantic Blue? Pattern looks right. If it is he should be blue (hard to guess that right). Body shape is similar to a number of tangs so color is important for id. Main thing it is almost certainly another grazer. Guess you don't have many algae problems with that crew. Very nice.
