Concern about anthias coloring

Buggers are just hard to see. I purposefully put the QT tank in an area of low light to try and ease them in. I'll keep checking and see if I can catch the same one from above again. They're just skittish when I walk up to them with a light on and dart for cover. The wrasse, meanwhile, isn't the least bit put off by the light lol!

I'm going to stay the course for now. When I fed earlier 4 of the 5 came out and I could se the other one eating some in it's PVC home. If it's ich or velvet, they need to stay in copper. If it's flukes, the FW dip should have helped and tide them over until the general cure kicks in.

And, if all this isn't enough, two of them at least feel well enough to start the dominance dance as I'm watching them just now.

Thanks man. Just trying to do this the right way, for the first time lol! I may just be jumping the gun on these guys, those the spots and flashing do suggest otherwise. They ate immediately, twice the first day and twice on the second before treatment began. Eating wasn't an issue for any of the anthias until today. I just wonder if I should have started off with a dose of general cure before starting copper. In any case, lethargy can be a sign of velvet and flukes. Just not sure which I should have treated first. I'll remove all hiding spots tomorrow and check for spots again.

QT tanks were seeded with filter media that had soaked in my DT's sump for 4 weeks plus a couple of different bacteria's in a bottle. I don't feel like there has been or is an ammonia issue. I manually remove detritus a couple of times per day a short while after feeding.

Eventual plan is to use my 60 cube as a 4-6 week post treatment observation tank but it's currently QT'ing corals until mid-January.
Yeah, Copper is very hard on the fish it like chemotherapy to humans.
Watch closely if appetite goes fish survival dwindles.
My Tang was rubbing rocks i never QT him just fed him garlic and waited it out. That was 6 months ago that only reason i recommended a cycled QT at first I've done this with great success with all my tangs from blue hippo, powder brown, powder blue, yellow and my white cheek tang.
They all survived.
That just my tangs my dwarf angels and blennies have done well with this too.
Algae eaters seem to benefit from it atleast.
Anyways goodluck hope all goes well.

Well, this is what I woke up to this morning. I can't tell what the sores are so I'm not sure how to treat. I don't see similar markings on the other fish. Urenoma? Internal parasites?

If I'm completely screwing things up, somebody please speak up. Idea is to learn and get better, not kill more fish or, at least, let them die because I didn't treat correctly, in the right order, or in time.

I dosed Kanaplex and Furan2 this morning after discovering the 3 fatalities as I'm still not sure what I'm dealing with. The 2 remaining anthias have responded positively with both swimming openly until one saw me and now it's staring at me from some PVC vs completely hiding.

It looks like a bacteria infection to me. They can kill fish rather quickly.

Dosing Kanaplex and furan 2 helps. If you have Metro, dose that as well.

Keep dosing these 3 for 10 days or longer if infections linger. Make sure you’re doing water changes as directed by each medicines recommendation.

+1

Kanaplex, Metroplex and Furan-2 is a great combination for bacterial infections, 'cause it acts on a lot of bacteria strains.

Hopefully, your fish can beat this thing. Antibiotics basically slow the growth of the bacteria, giving the fish's immune system time to boot up and get 'er done. You'll want to go ten days or so, possibly 14.

I dosed general cure on Thursday so that had covered metro and per instructions it'll get dosed again today. Yesterday I dosed Furan 2 and Kanaplex. Another anthias dead this morning so I'm down to 1. At least the blenny and wrasse seem to be doing well, though I haven't looked for them yet this morning. Frustrating hobby sometimes.

Anthias is hard to deal with. I have 6 out of 9 were dead due to bacteria/or velvet. They were doing fine in qt for a while and later droping like flys. Now I have 3 left and is in copper treatment for two weeks.

Sorry you're going through the same struggles.

I think mine had velvet in addition to the bacteria infections as well. It was only one fish, but I saw a few small white dots early on. Just hard to know what to treat first.
