I apologize but I've seen this several times and usually someone touting their product does it on a regular thread and gets upset when someone has a different view. If you're selling that's fine but not during discussions if you can't accept that others might disagree. It only creates bad feelings about your product.

No slight felt at all, Terence!

(For those of you who felt Terence might have been being nasty somehow- I assure you, he was not. Nothing could be further from the truth. As I've stated previously, the guy is the "pied piper" of reef tech, and even though I might not always understand the tech stuff, I know enough to listen to him- as we all should..plenty of good stuff to be learned!)

In fact, I was kind of poking the beehive- hoping you'd drop in and give the other side of the coin..And I agree! As you know, I'm a fan of both you and your product, LOL. If anyone can be the bridge between "scary tech" and "everyman's reefing", it's you and Neptune!

The coolest thing about what you guys have done is that you've created an ATMOSPHERE where even technically-challenged reefers (like moi!) can feel comfortable learning at our own pace...THAT is what makes technology worthwhile! And I think we both agree that technology in and of itself will not replace the art of aquaristics..I do, however, feel that there are a few people out there who think that way (just as there are a few people out there who feel that under no circumstances should you use technology...an equally dogmatic, and IMHO- illogical view!).

And, since I'm planning a new tank, I'm going to do it- I'm going to embrace the tech- at my own pace, of course- and go kicking and screaming into the 21st century! The best advocate is someone who has actually faced their fears and tried it for themselves, only to see that they were simply handcuffed by fear..and I've always admitted that this was me- so now it's time to face the fears! And I'll document my progress once I get under way- to show that it is possible to evolve with this! And I'll bet it will be fun, too.

I understand what you are writing about Scott. I have been doing aquarium automaton for what seems like forever. And while for me my Apex still has to have custom scripts that I run against it to get it to do more than it does out of the box. I readily acknowledge that for the average person even with the advances that Neptune has made, the controller can still be very daunting to the average reefer.

I remember showing off how I was able to get SMS paging with live captures of my sump room using my aquacontroller 2 back in the 2004 MACNA that was like craziest thing ever back then! I don't think the controller at the time even supported emailing. We can do so much more now, but getting the average person to feel comfortable using and setting it up is still a challenge.
