Constantly Failing At SPS What Am I Missing?

I had lotts of trouble growing sps coral...when I started using wave maker with random flow along with t -5 lighting and a strong skimmer..
along with stable water parmators...things started to take off for me...also used zeovit...phols extra.coral vitalizer..sponge power along with
the lps..

For what it is worth, I have a BRS value RO/DI system. I leave it portable and it is totally stable sitting on the tile floor attached to the sink faucet. Been using it like that for months. They have it on sale fairly often.

How do you have it attached? My Faucet is not the screw off type its a modern design. I'm handy enough to install this but ill need guidance on how to get a valve installed i guess under my sink that when i turn off i can disconnect the rodi system. I will take a pic tonight and maybe some members can help direct me to what ill have to do. It will be good practice for when my fiancee and i have a house!!!

I have T5/led hybrid, Skimmer is a Skimz rated for a 100 gallon and i do have my power heads on a controller with random flow and patterns.

how long do you run your lights...ati blue pluse along with atinic. have also helped a lot..had the pleasure of talking to jasson fox awhile ago a lfs..he said he ran almost all blue light along with really good flow...along with weekly water changes..

6.5 hour with T5 and LED on, 1.5 ramp dawn and 1.5 ramp dusk. My pars are on my first post.

The filters go bad way faster than you think. Adding di filters can drastically change the longevity of the rodi

Not to stir the pot but if I ran my leds at 100% all my sps would be dead as well. I run a max of 40% intensity led with my t5 bulbs for only 3 hrs. The rest is ramp up/down.

My LEDS are not running at 100% power at all. When i say 6.5 hours i mean that the time my LEDS and T5 are on together to give me the pars i have listed on my first post.

I just looked at your photos. I would seriously order your own RO/DI unit and start making your own water asap. Your corals are being irritated by something big time.

I would also reduce my lighting 10% intensity all around. You're going to kill coral faster with high light verses lower light.

I would like a RODI system but i'm in a one level condo. I can take a picture of under my sink for someone who is great with plumbing to let assist me on hook up, but the Rodi system would not be able to be mounted their permanently.

You can use one of these to connect the RO to your kitchen faucet. The drain can run right into the sink drank. No plumbing necessary. That's how mine is setup except I'm using a faucet in the laundry room and running the waste line into the washer drain.

a green slimmer who has green PE very fuzzy but the skeleton of the coral is not longer green it dark purple like Coraline.

So much of your story sounds like mine. I've struggled off and on with my SPS. Sometime last fall my slimer did exactly that. Eventually the tissue peeled off and I cut the dead part off. It's finally starting to regrow now.

I with there was something easy to point out that you can change, but honestly it looks like you are doing the right things. Keep your chin up, keep it stable, and hopefully things will turn around.

With Zeovit i'm using Zeobak, Zeostart, Amino tabs, and LPS food. I am active on the Zeovit forum.

Ok so seems like you are using it correctly I assume, do you give your reactor a daily stir?

Turn ur lights down. UV is way to high and only run ur whites for s few hours. My UV is only running a fraction of that and the whites I run for 4-5 hours depending on the tank. As far as ur nutrients go, ur nitrate seem a bit high but should be ok. You def want to increase your calc. I run mine st 450-470. Most say 420 is good. For SPS I like to run higher. And all I run in the high 8s or low 9s when calcium is high like that. Most importantly is stability. Keep everything stable as possible.

I’d lower the intensity of your primes. Start at 40% then acclimate from there. Usually lightening of sps is the result of too much light or too low of nutrients.

I don’t know if this was addressed but years back I had a similar issue with no coraline and odd coral deaths. One day I was working on the tank without shoes on and when I put my hand in the tank I got shocked pretty bad. Turned out a heater was leaking current. I replaced the heater and bam coraline and corals came back with vengeance in less then a month. It was quite interesting and now a tank of mine never goes without a grounding probe.

I used this to connect into the cold water supply line under the bathroom sink.

And this to turn to rodi unit on or off

And I just stuck the waste line into the sink overflow.

I used the bathroom sink so I could fill buckets in the tub so no floods.
I now use a brute can with a float valve so it doesn't overflow.

I would at least get a handheld TDS meter to test the water you’re getting from the LFS. Seems like you have a good grasp of parameters and maintenance. The only variable that you don’t have control over currently is your source water.
