Just wondering what ever happened to the convict chalice? I heard the original owner took his tank down so I guess I'm wondering what ever happened to the colony?
Thanks boys
Chris

Kien has a nice piece. Goodluck trying to get him to Frag it. Last I heard he quit his day job to spend more time with it. He also

I originally bought a lil less than half the colony from r.d. who originally got it as a wild piece. I had the colony for a few months and then fragged it for a trade. The colony responded poorly to the fragging and began to bleach. I was only able to save a few pieces. One of those pieces has been doing very well for me and is acclimated very well to my system. The other frag has been slightly bleached and hardly growing for well over a year. I've moved to low light fed more flow etc. The convict has been called a low light chalice but ime its just very hard to acclimate properly.

Enjoy!!!

This frag started from the original colony with no eyes and has grown very good. This represents 18 months from a no eye microspopic frag. I'm very proud of it. I know its gonna take off for real very very soon. All my chalices do that. See how pink it is. Totally adjusted to the open light of my tank.

On the other hand, I just fragged the other frag that had been bleached and not healthy for the entire 18 months. Started 18 months ago as a multiple eyed frag and still has the same number of eyes. Hasn't grown but occasionally bleaches. So I fragged it in two

so thats why I said that the convict is tricky. Both frags came from the mother colony and the no eye one has grown 10x while the multiple eyed frag bleached and won't grow. All under my same lights and water chemistry and care. So even a small frag is a big accomplishment if it grows fast.

Anyone else have any pics? Someone else with some growth progression shots would be nice :)

Yea that was 18 months ago. I'm much more experienced now prob could have gotten it to survive if it happened now. Well live and learn I guess. At least I have a few pieces and one of them is going to be as big as the original colony in a short amount of time I know it. Can't wait I will keep everyone updated :)

Hey Chris glad to see someone else that has this beautiful chalice. This is on very tricky chalice to get to grow. I have a frag that been sitting there for like a year now and no growth what so ever. I have another frag in the same system and it double in size. My mother colony is not very big no more because a good friend of mine persuade me to cut it for him. All i have to say is that i still havent figure out how to get this chalice to grow any faster then it already is.

More pics please! Do you have any pics not under actinics?

Thanks,
CJ
