looks awesome. just a tip if its your first reefer. Swap those mesh filters out for the 100 micron felt ones. I swap them every 2 days.

Big Update--> Turns out my GFO was set up completely wrong and not doing anything. I have a new company servicing my tank and they explained everything! Super excited as I feel the tank is going to take a huge turn for the better. The battle against Cyano and Hair Algae is going to end with me winning hahha.

Sad update . Generator failed and power is out. We had to evacuate and I am up north. Someone is "churning " the water for me that crashed at my place so praying the fish make it. What a horrible feeling. My backup plan failed. This storm is insane

Really sorry to hear this. ☹️

Oh man, that's awful! I'm glad you guys are safe and I'll hold out hope for the fish tank.

LPS slowly dieing! Water parameters are all within the normal limits. Temp has been steady since tank started. Unsure why!
Trachys slowly dieing over past few months. Calcium was getting to high so stopped dosing completely as no demand really anymore for supplementation.

2 peppermint shrimp possibly indulging on a trachy, but otherwise I am clueless.
What can I do?

What are your nitrates and phosphates? I also lost most of my LPS a few months back when my tank was starving for nutrients. Everything seems pretty happy when my nitrates are around 5 ppm and my phosphates are around .03 ppm or so.

Will check today, thanks man!
So upsetting!

I'll just add, that two peppermint shrimp can cause a lot of issues. I've had two wipe out (continuously) all the LPS corals in a modified 90 for months. I couldn't remove them, so I introduced a hawkfish that was happy to take the task of removal on. Now my LPS do fantastic in there. :)

Yes, I wanna get rid of the two guys but can't catch them. I have a flame hawk that does not pay them any mind. What fish can I use to rid me of the 2 pains?

Wellllll, if the hawkfish isn't doing it that sucks. Most of the fish that will go after them, you probably don't want in your tank for too long since they are likely to go after other things you want to keep : triggers, squirrel fish, lionfish, grouper, ect.

Maybe try a trap of some sort. Works for fish, I think it would work for shrimp.
My method is just a large glass jar or beer glass with a plastic ziplock back over the opening. cut the corner off the bag and have the cut corner protrude into the glass, just slightly big enough for the shrimp or fish to enter (like a clear funnel). Stuff it with mysis or something they can't resist and wait. Easy to go in, but getting out is tough because the usually go up or down, which would get them caught by the bag. It works for fish, so I would imagine you might be able to get your shrimp in there too.
EDIT: i have also taken a water bottle and cut the top funnel off, and then inverted the top into the rest of the bottle... same principal.

Slowly one by one then it speed up. Suspect velvet despite all my efforts. 8 fish left. Most just disappear and other just stop eating then perishEd. So upsetting.
Tried everything
Now it’s hope the 8 survive and start over!

Thats so disappointing! :( Hopefully you'll have better luck this go around. Did you let the tank sit fallow for a bit so the velvet could run its course before adding new guy back in?
