So from what I've seen copperband(CB) often die in people's tanks within a week due to being unhealthy in the store and not eating in the tank. What I don't understand is the post that say there CB died at 6 months. Does anyone know why? Could this just be due to inexperienced hobbyist or could it be there missing a key part of there diet so they slowly wither away? If anyone has experience or knows why I would appreciate the information.
Thank you.

I don't know. Had my cbb for over a year and a half. 2 years as soon as september hits

Mine is 3 years. Lives off mysis and the reef. Been in two tanks. 90g for most of the time and now a 180. Sometimes fish die for various unknown reasons.

However, many copperbands have been captured with cyanide. The 6 months sounds simular to the effect of destroyed liver from cyanide exposure.
Next up, copperbands are very easy to injure with nets.

Mine was eating well but they do not take well to aggression. If aggressive fish are pestering it then it stop eating and that’s not good

Oh yea maybe it's a internal injury. If this were the case could it really take 6 months?

Yea I have a pretty peaceful system. I have a fiary wrasse which is a pretty good indicator of that.

I lost one before after 1.5 years? It went blind very suddenly, no disease, clear perfect looking eyes, I assume some internal problem. It was very fat and lived a very long time while blind but I was hospitalized for a week and lost it during that since no one knew how to care for a blind fish.

My current one is doing well.

I know of one person losing theirs a year in, they were eating good foods and healthy appearing, no tangs or aggressive fish with it, and no other fish got sick. No idea but sometimes animals die just like sometimes people die... there can be internal and genetic problems.

People lose fish to mystery problems but copperbands people probably talk about or take notice of more then a goby.

Yea could be genetic or internal problem. That's odd I'm just trying to figure out why to have success with mine. I currently have a pretty large CB that's eats any frozen food.

All you can do is feed it a good diet and keep stressors down. Paul feeds live clams/worms and his live out their natural life span. I fed those same thing as well + LRS.

I don't know their lifespan but the last two of them I had lived about 10 years. Their lifespan is probably longer but for me anyway, after 10 years they seem to get some weird thing like a neurological condition that affects their ability to see food correctly so they can't bite it. Eventually he gave up trying to eat because he couldn't get it in his mouth.

This one had that problem but he was old. Maybe 10 years is close to their lifespan, I don't know.

This is the way he ate for most of his life. Copperbands are big eaters for such a skinny fish

You can see phyical trauma. @Paul B is on these forums.
Oh that's really good information. Could just be there really delicate and do bad in shipping

Have you ever attempted to pair them?

Mine was shipped to me. Less than 2 inches. I was scared of making the purchase... There was just that calling saying "buy her"

Can you buy frozen black worms? Currently there hard to find. Do frozen foods lose there nutrients?

If you can't buy live black worms you can buy a starter culture of live white worms and grow them yourself in potting soil and feed them cat food or bread crusts or whatever.

Frozen food still has nutrients but fresh it still nice to have and @Paul B would probably tell you that you want the bacteria in the live food. I don't know about all that but we know fresh food is best for people :)

Guess it was fate. Luckily I buy mine at my lfs so I can get a good look at the fish.
