This one has never changed color, it's still a white or light yellow shade. I use the testing kit instead, hoping it's accurate.

Are you dosing any meds? Copper in particular will throw off any liquid ammonia test kit; you will get nothing but false positives.

Liquid test kits don't work if there's copper/CP present in the water. You'll get a false reading every time. That's why Seachem's Ammonia Badge is highly recommended. You can rejuvenate the badge by letting it soak in fresh RODI for a couple of days (or until it bounces back to bright yellow). It shouldn't be white.

No, I'm just watching her, since I'm in this room most of the time, I can see her often.

There's no copper in the tank. The badge shows 0 ammonia all the time, I just looked at it, it's yellow, it hasn't changed but I know there is ammonia because it's an uncycled Quarantine tank with a fish and various foods I had been trying (prior to the water change last night) and the test kit also shows ammonia.

The size of the tank, the size and number of fish there are, how much you feed, how much food is polluting the bottom of the tank, and how often water changes are done will decide if there's ammonia in the tank.

Let's say you only have one fish in a sparkling new tank of water, it may take a week for any ammonia to show up.

Water changes are the best way to go for removing ammonia.

If there's no copper then a regular liquid test kit will work.
