I have seen these shelve like things in pics of other aquariums that hang on the side to place coral frags on while they grow. does any one know if and where these can be bought? is there a name for them? I just put new zoa frags in my tank and caught my emerald crab munching them! need to put them up until they grow I think???? or ditch the crab, lol

They're probably interested on what's on the plug and not the polyps. Whenever I put anything new in my tank it draws attention from anything that can move lol.

Do emerald crabs normally munch on baby zoa frags????

I dont know about all but the one I have went right to my new frags and cleaned the hair algae off of them.. Didnt touch the polyps aside to get between them. Like I said, I dont know about all but thats what mine did. I trust him now lol

Emerald crabs have been known to pull a polyp or two off a rock... But its like like they just plow through a colony.

I'm learning as I go:) Still trying to find a local frag guy to get good stuff from, not a whole lot of options around here. Don't want to pay 50 shipping every time I wanna buy a $10 frag!

Shipping doesn't have to be 50$. I have success in shipping zoa and paly 2 day for around $20. Its always best to take advantage of the shipping charge and get multiple frags at once.

yeah the shipping costs are crazy, I been watching and from what I have seen, you buy a shipping package and fill it with your purchase. costs them the same to ship 1 vs 20 so buy more at once and ship once. However I have a hard time trusting alot of the marketers :(.

The cost of shipping is actually cheaper for me because the lfs is 160 miles away..... After you factor in the expense to travel, feeding the kids McDonalds etc its not really that bad.

Yeah I came across a steal.. 100$ for a bleeding apple scoly then Shipping kicks in.. still bought it though hahaha!

Must have been worth it! I'm just so new at all this that I'm afraid to spend that much and then kill it on accident!

I'm still afraid I'll kill off an expensive coral if I buy one!

For what its worth... Ive seen zoas be quite hardy. Not that i have much experience but the ones i have look solid and they fell off the car seat twice and got dipped in hydrogen peroxide. They were mad a couple days but they look great as far as i can tell :)

This good to know , because I just got a new frag of eagle eye zoas and I'm really hoping they do well:)

after 12 years you should not be afraid to buy expensive corals! your a pro by now:)
