Coral help

You might consider running a PolyFilter for a little while. I had my wood floors redone in my house a couple of months ago and had a couple of corals freak out. The PolyFilter cleaned out whatever got in there. Just keep an eye on your skimmer as it freaks them out.

Where abouts would I put it in my sump... it's a trickle style

it does strip dissolved organics, and NO and Po

Well now I'm in a pickle lol...maybe I will dip him in coral rx or lugol's in case of infection
Sniff him first. You'll know if he has an infection. If he smell like ocean you fine.
IMO jelly diseases come From to low a flow and or nurireunts or both. A sign of declining health. Flow keeps them clean.
IMO if he smells do a real light lugols dip in tank water and gently dust him off once he's back in. Probably pout for a while.
I run high dissolved organics in my tanks. its a tricky balance. If the nutrient tests get high run the floss. It's actually like a gfo. I run a refugium for this reason.

Thanks you for your help....fingers crossed

I just had a thought.... I stopped my 2 part dosing end of August as my numbers for ca, alk, mag were showing very high on test kits...I'm wondering if they were incorrect. Maybe I'll retest and start dosing again as to up my nutrients

Could be. That is very low which your other coral should see signs of low alk. IMO, this is just a difficult coral to keep and I wouldn't go chasing your numbers for the good of one coral. As long as all others or okay, I'd keep doing what you're doing.

Raise the Alk about 1 per day until you hit the 8.3-8.4 mark, then figure out what you are using per day and dose that.
I have never had to raise it, what do I use? I have seachem fusion 2 part which I was using and will start up again, it's to restore and maintain ca and alk

Test again to be sure. If your doing regular water changes it shouldn't lower quite so fast unless your seeing really good growth on the stonys or coralline..(montis have sunk me)
this is the calculator from Randy F article http://reef.diesyst.com/chemcalc/chemcalc.html

I tested again and got 7 after adding 2 part...I think the test I have is bad and is hard to read, it's the red sea one and only the chart end color shows red but all I get is yellow/orange. I will have to buy another
