There is a lot of fringing reefs that are not in protected areas. Most have been bleached in the last year but still some healthy corals.Sorry for not answering the question but how were you allowed to take that from the reef?

80% of the corals are bleached and most likely won't recover. They bleached last year, and half was gone. Now they bleached again. I pulled it off using my hands so it wasn't healthy and half of it was bleached alreadyYou should have left it where it was if you dont have a better home for it.
Queensland, Australia in the WhitsundaysWhere at?
Its sad but only a fringing reef. There are plenty of healthy reefs where I am that are doing well. Very little bleaching but some cyclone damage from a few years ago.Just shows the effect humans have on reefs
