Coral shipment delayed - what do I do?

I just counted last night, and I have received 17 shipped orders the last year+. This is the first that has been delayed.
Luckily, Indianapolis is a major Fedex hub so that is helpful for sure.

Good news is that it looks like my ASD shipment is to be delivered in the next couple hours. We will see how it goes, but I did get an email last night from ASD saying "Please understand we are not responsible for any weather delays, but as a piece of mind, anything that is DOA due to the delay, we will take care of you"
I like asd but that being said I have a order with tck and its on the 3rd week of them delaying shipping due to weather better than being delayed in a snowstorm

I agree they should have delayed shipping due to weather. If they have 30+ orders going through a specific hub in the winter, they should check the weather forecast.

10:30 CT, 11:30 ET. Anyone get their corals? Mine is closer, but still not here.

UPS did send a picture though....

Well...mine as well join this thread. First time ordering from a New Yorked based vendor via livesale. First time ordering premium acros. First time experiencing delays with Fedex. Not fun as many already know.

I snagged a Walt Disney and a Pickachu for the collection. Read the DOA policy for this vendor and I can say that I don't get feeling of comfort for this order if DOA due to shipment delays. We'll have to wait to and see.

I do like going through WWC. They recommended delaying my order in the past due to impacts a hurricane had in my area. This was very much appreciated, and if this new vendor would have offered delaying my shipment due to increased risks to corals because of weather, I would have gladly waited.

This might be the first and last time I order from them depending on how things fare.

My shipment of trout eggs via Fed Ex Priority Overnight as of 3:00 pm EST today is still pending delivery. It left Vermont Wednesday night. No idea where the package is. It should have at least been logged in Memphis today.

Not sure if they will attempt a Saturday delivery since I didn't check it on the airbill.

Just a quick update on mine. Still in Kentucky estimated to be delivered Monday which will make it 5 days. I’m expecting the worst, everything dead. I’ve stayed in contact with the vendor and they’re being very helpful and said they’re communicating with UPS and I might get it tomorrow but worst case Monday. They have already told me to take lots of pictures and they’ll cover any DOA’s even with the delay.

Cant ask for anything more than that... ultimately its the Vendors who are going to be eating most of the losses - unfortunately for them. Tis why I was happy to delay my order when the vendor I used suggested waiting a few days to ship. no point in killing coral or causing him to lose money when it doesn't hurt me to wait a few extra days.

Hopefully everything lives in your order... but if 5 days it's doubtful. Ive had stuff show up dead the next day before.

Yep. It is what it is, mistakes were mad and nothing anyone can do now except to hope for the best.

My ASD order came in this morning. It was cold and everything was PO.
Looks like the acan will pull through. Goni is TBD, and Beach bum monti does not look good.
I emailed ASD basically that info, and they responded to let them know if anything does not make it, and that they are extending the DOA guarantee for a week.

Oh wow that is awesome on their part. But I’m assuming if your stuff isn’t the greatest mine will be long gone in 3 more days. Especially the monti, hammer, alve. Hopefully I get an extended DOA as well if anything does make it

I have the same nightmare with UPS. My order containing bimac anthias, bellus angel, hooded flame wrasse was supposed to be here by 10:30 am today. They notified me the shipment is stuck in Kentucky and won't arrive here until Monday. What the chance of any of this fish surviving 5 days in a bag? Worst thing is they don't have any interest in telling the shipper not to ship. This is what they do 24/7. They know how to track weather and make some basic predictions. Dollar comes first though.

I’m gonna go with none will survive. If it’s at the airport like mine it’s stuck in a big warehouse that’s not temperature controlled. I’m expecting a full loss of my corals. UPS has horrible customer service and doesn’t care if something is live or not. They just live by the system and make as much money as they can.

ASD has been by best luck for delayed orders, but I now will not order between November and March

So... how do I tell if a coral is dead or barely hanging on? I ordered 2 montis and the rest LPS and softies. Will it hurt my system if I accidentally put dead corals in it?

Just got my package. Water is like ice. Thermometer reads 50, feels colder. Everything is brown. Goni unrecognizable.
flaot for 30 mins and place under low light before opening bag and see if they color up

If they’re brown does that mean dead? I’m sorry I’ve just never ordered live online and I’ve never had a coral die on me.

If they're brown and when you lightly baste them and the brown floats away in a cloud leaving a white skeleton, then yes, my friend they are dead.

Okay good to know for when mine come in, thank you.

I'm in Wisconsin and in the same boat. UPS has now updated my shipping info to where my package will arrive Monday. Its currently sitting less than 60 miles from my house. I spent all afternoon trying to arrange to go and pick it up. The best I got was to pick it up at the next hub tomorrow morning. After spending hours on the phone and getting no where I'd definitely like to knock a few heads together. They just don't care. I didn't even get anywhere until I walked into the nearest shipping hub and started asking questions.

This was my first online experience and I must say the vendor I'm extremely happy with. UPS can pound sand and is making me question if I'll ever try again.
