coraline algae help growing, etc..

okay thanks i think the salt i use have calcium and alk not sure how much and i also bought some liquid stuff called purple up before to try and spread that real reef rock thinking it was coraline lol

That purple up stuff has calcium and other stuff in it. But don't add anything to the tank that you can't test for, ie calcium, alk, magnesium.

You also need good magnesium levels, that is where the pink comes from and low phosphates. Id suggest investing in some good test kits.

I agree with above but he didn't mention magnesium which coralline grows extremely fast under 1350ppm. Nothing else rises if mag. not in check.

Hey I was jus re reading this.
How old is your tank again? IME is you put salt water under a light and get some sand live or even dry rock and corals here and there you should have some corraline.
Do you have any ? From the pics I can't tell its green on the screen and I can't see color.
With no corraline and diatoms I'm guessing there's a deeper problem.
I hate to ask but what are you using for top off and mix water.

Even the cheapest salt mix has enough cal alk an mag in it to grow corraline in a small tank not even doing a water change every 2 months.
If you growing softies corraline is the largest consumer of those. Esp if you have a purple tank like mine and dudes crazy purple one above.
Btw in most any tank the purp alge is spread by tiny spores. As the algae grows and spreads it sends off little bits into the water and finds areas of light it likes and flow it live under. It Auto seeds. If we sent you corraline you crush it or just drop it in your tank and it goes. I used Fiji Mud on my current build and I got colors of corraline I've never had before. It's mud just swish it around and it grows. Same in the cube I just did. 3 weeks later boom.
Purp coral line hate 450 to 420 led's. But still.
So I think there's something else goin on here.

it's been up for a little over a year now just been unmaintained thus why it has such bad parameters and all that. yea not sure why it was green probably algae the tank is mostly clear now. i just top off using tap water or at least used to before now im using ro/di water only. i mix in a trash can just put water, salt little by little and mix with a power head for about 12-24 hours.

i really dont think this rock has coraline algae if i didn't put it in the bottom i would show you but it is mostly purple and has white spots on it idk if you can see in the picture but from that angle you can and then in some parts it has red specs as if someone accidentally dropped red paint on the rock. i mean if it wasn't for the texture i could swear it's not coralline algae but idk never seen or felt it before. i used to have it in my tank without a lighting system nothing happened

Yea its not a real rock. it happens.
I wouldln't sweat your parameters much right now. except salinity and ammonia. Getting the tap water out of the system is prob first thing. The minerals in the water changes will work on the rest.
I had a bad rodi experience last year. The chlorine in the tap is stunting algae and bacteria growth.. If you do a few big water changes (20%) for the next couple weeks and keep siphoning the gunk, youll see pretty massive improvements pretty quickly.
With the water changes Id still recommend some bio filter help. Prime after the water changes and the Fiji mud will help on that. In 6 weeks I think youll be amazed.
Its prob $25 plus salt and water.
Once that gets fixed youll have corraline every where without dosing anything elses.

bt prime you mean sea chem prime? i added some not too long ago do i just keep addind after water changes and how much

yup seachem prime. follow the directions for your water volume.
I forget if it has a daily or weekly sched for dosing. with the prob your having you may consider the daily or every other day.
its a pretty mild water conditioner.

if i did a 20% water change does that mean i only add 20% sea chem prime to tank or do i add in the whole tank volume? that is what im confused about right now lol. i dont have anything to dose with like any machines didnt think it was necessary for my tank.

i also have the bacteria for like cycling tanks should i be adding that weekly as well or just let what i have grow

No. Only one bottle bacteria at a time imo.
I belive on the directions it is 5ml one capful per 50 gal of tank volume. Only at water change.
Judging by the prob here. and additional 5ml is likely fine between changes. As per the slightly confusing directions.

the bacteria says 5ml per 50gals yes i added that a few days ago when i bought it. will dose another 5ml of the seachem prime after testing today. or maybe its better to add before testing

after testing. one thing you want to know is there any ammonia being produced. the prime will mask that.

my ammonia stayed the same color got a little darker but everything else seemed to be the same ironically. ph -8.0 color got a little lighter but didn't seem to be 7.8, ammonia 0.25 color got a littler lighter, nitrite 0, nitrate it was at 40ppm when i shaked it but then it says to wait 5 minutes before comparing and it got a deep red color which is 160ppm

Prime, good water and patience. watch the ammonia(prime it)
the nitrate will drop with the upcoming water changes. ph should become more stable too.

So everything I do a water change I add prime? Or is this only until my levels are good and go bad

only until your levels are good. so keep checking. You only need to do once weekly maint and keep an eye and nose on the tank. weird growths or odd smells.
Odd Smell?.... prime.
Sudden gunk buildup? vacuum, waterchange, Prime.
Dont worry itst going to take a while but not much work. Its mostly wait.
update once and a while if you get nervious. but its gonna be fine.

Dont over feed:)
