Ensure that your NO3/PO4 and as said above get a scrapping and crush it fine in some of your tank water then pour in front of power head and when your tank is ready it will come!

I believe that elevated magnesium levels help encourage coraline algae growth. I use Tropic Marin Bio Magnesium in my tanks and in addition to magnesium, it is also important to make sure that the calcium and alkalinity are all in check in the tank.

Actually, I find the purple up does work. I add it to my tank every other night when the lights go out. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and the 3 pices of base rock have substantially covered in first stages of coraline. The number one thing is time as you will hear from everyone, but regardless of people saying purple up does nothing, I had to find out for myself. I tried it and can say it is working for me. One thing to make sure you keep an eye on, is the calcium levels in your tank as this product will raise you ca2 levels slightly. Just for the record, I am also using coral pro salt, 10% water changes every Friday.

Doesn't raise your calcium but sure as heck jacks up your alk. What's your alk reading right now?

Making sure your ALK, CA and MAG levels are normal, then like said above, get some off your LFS rock, scrape it in front of a power head to disperse it into the tank, and trust it will come.

Never use a product that you don't know what is in it and that you don't have a test kit for. Corrailline will come if you have anything in the tank from another tank. It does take time and decent params. I have green, red and purple in my tank and dose ZERO. Just get a small Live rock from an LFS to seed your tank, should cost ya a dollar or so. Or I can send ya some for shipping if ya want, prob cost ya $3-5 or so.

becareful what you wish for. It may look pretty now, but when you ave to start scraping your glass everyday, give powerheads vinegar baths because coraline has covered em, it then becomes a curse.

Dont rush your tank, dont put chip of it in your tank, you will get plenty frpom frag plugs, invert shells and all kinds of other things. Just let things take their course.

This is all true too.

Purple up does help promote corraline algae. Great product.

It barely raises calcium at best by adding aragonite which doesn't actually dissolve. It jacks up alk (meaning it gets completely out of whack). Unless u r dosing 2 part purple up does nothing but give false readings re:calcium. And it drops ph. Better off running kalk as its cheaper, stabilizes ph, and much more effective. I know this is a great debate on many forums and can only share my own experience obviously. Purple up "for me" had no benefit to any of my tanks and only through parameters out of whack when dosing according to the label.

Maybe reacts differently with different salt mixes???? Honestly, since I started using it, I am noticing more growth on my dry base rock. Then again, maybe it's all in my head...lol

Just keep testing your alk and be prepared to start dosing it. You'll be fine.

Thanks for the advice, I will def keep an eye on it.
