Neat! What color is it?

We have the pale purple and, just in the past year, several 1 to 2 inch areas of the red.
Would love to grow the green and the yellow. Need to get a starter culture from somewhere.
I understand those tolerate almost no light.

I'm going to disagree, respectfully of course, only because in my experience I didnt get coralline algae growth until after I amped up the par in my tank. I easily have 250 to 400 par all over my tank and see coralline growth everywhere :)

It's a light dark purple mix. Hard tonexplain

I love it!It doesn't grow on my gyre for some reason. It is probably its placement but that is not an issue for me.i think it gives the rock that coral is not growing on POP!I have also seen several products geared just to promote it's growth.i'm not quite sure if they actually work however.I don't think I have ever seen a "great looking"tank without it.That is not to say they don't exist. If someone has one please post a pic of it.I think it would promote some more discussion to this thread.

I will say that my coralline growth, and sps growth did seem to go hand in hand.

How did you get it to grow? Do you make a change, and if so, what? What kind of lights do you have?

In my 3 yr old tank with a little coralline growth mine started growing fast soon after I started using Vibrant. I don't know if just coincidental or if any cause and effect. Anybody else notice any relation to Vibrant use?

I love it on the rocks. Hate it on the glass at the point that I have left it in some spots

I believe strongly that the implementation of brs 2 part is really what caused mine to start growing as it did.
Plus when I added t5s seemed to help as well. Now I'm currently running t5 metal halide

What type and how many of each T5 do you use? What brand, type, and wattage of metal halide bulbs do you use? How high up off the water surface are your lights? What's your lighting schedule?

That's alot of questions at once lol.
I'm using the Hamilton Metal Halide T5 Hybrid fixture. It has a single 250 watt Hamilton 20k screw in metal halide. It uses two Hamilton 460NM Royal blue t5's and two hamilton 420nm actinic t5's. The light fixture itself is mounted 9" off the waters surface. I run a 10 hour schedule with the T5's coming on at 11AM and then the metal halide at 12PM (noon) then at 8PM the metal halide turns off and the t5's turn off at 9PM

Thank you for the info! I'm trying to replicate the actual ocean lighting at around 25 to 40 foot depth. A friend of mine scuba dives and I've asked him to take a few photos as examples. There are so many variables when it comes to lighting a reef aquarium these days, it almost blows your mind! I think I'm getting closer to what I'm striving for. Thanks again for the info! Really appreciate it! :D

You're welcome :) the 20k bulb I believe, if memory serves me, is suppose to replicate depths of 15-25 feet. But with the blue and actinics thrown in there it looks closer to 25-35 feet :)
