Im going to guess you'll be fine. Usually corals like that platy will lay out its mesenterial filaments (guts). Kind of like the coral is digesting the other. Sweeper tentacles are like a message saying this is my territory.
Keep an eye out though. Good Luck

Im wondering if its best for me to pop off that brain since it was epoxy down about a year ago..hasnt grown that much since

It looks like a platygyra to me which is the genus. Its not from the genus favia but is is from the same family faviidae.

Brain yes. Brain coral is a very vague term describing a lot of LPS corals.

Agreed. Favia is a scientific name but there are several that are similar and tough to tell apart. Favia, Favites, platygyra, goniastrea are all sometimes lumped together as Favias or brains.

I agree that is a platygyra. Also known as a maze brain.

Different corals have different potency of their defense mechanisms. The brain may not be strong enough to kill the palys, just irritate them. During the day the brain doesn't fight so the palys open back up.

I let some of my corals compete for space and some I separate depending on how strong they are.

Im guessing that could be a reason that its sweeper tentacles are out. Some times they just stretch them out. Like I said I think you'll be fine.
