Could I add a refugium to my sump?

Anyone have an idea as to if/how I could add a refugium to this sump?

currently have a skimmer on the left side, return pump on the right.

Thinking about adding this and hanging it inside the sump. Thoughts? Size wise it would fit fine.

I feel like if I can’t get it low enough with the parts it has, I could find another way to mount it lower.

Or even just let it sit on the bottom of the sump. Doesn’t need to be pretty if you can’t see it

Any chance to put a small 5 or 10g tank above the sump and have it gravity feed into the sump from one of the drains?

Oh yeah thats way too tight. Any room behind or to the side? I did one on side of my tank once and it worked great and was almost like second display.

Plenty of room outside the tank, and maybe a little room to the side of it inside. Maybe 7 or 8 inches by 11 inches. (Yes, I know my cord management sucks right now haha)

Lol that aint nothing you should see my cord mismanagement.
Is the fuge for pods and stuff or just for chaeto etc? If you are doing it for chaeto/algae nutrient control you may want to look at ATS. It would fit nicely on top of sump and they absolutely work to lower nutrients. The hang on fuge thing inside the sump may be good idea as well. Good luck with whatever you go with.

In that case I would do either seperate fuge or the one in your pic that sits in sump.

I assume you want to start a fuge to handle nutrients.
You can keep PODS easily with just rock and hard surfaces unless your going to keep a few exclusive pod eaters like mandarins, then supplement may be required, if tank is under a year.

Seems a bit small to process nutrients, but if your having trouble keeping N and P in the range, might help a bit.

I have a separate chamber for the fuge but I took the light and chaeto out as it stripped all N and P from the column.

You do seem to have room for a marine pure type block.
These blocks contain a ton of surface area and combined with a carbon source, can manage N and P well, and houses micro fauna.

Had another idea for you but not sure it would work or not. If you are able to run skimmer externally and find way to hide it maybe next to stand somehow, you could use that large section in sump for fuge. This would have to be planned well with safeguards for leaks or overflowing skimmer. Just an idea

Looks tight either way. But an external pump might fit on the right under the power strip
