Crack in bulk head threads on return.

Everyone here is so helpful! Will this be ok with the crack? I havent tried it yet. This is the return to the tank in the bulkhead.

I would get a new bulkhead and some liquid teflon to put on the 90 you threaded in deep. The teflon dope might save you with the crack though right now.

no threaded in. I have tape on it too but feels a little loose. =(

Don't use that you have. This.

That is threaded, so it will not be in the fitting itself, just clogging up the gaps in the threads. Or get a slip bulkhead and glue it.

The dope you have, it is for metal I think. Check the label. if the bulkhead on the return is threaded in it needs to be replaced.

where can i just buy a replacement for that then? i think that this would just be the best way to be safe cause upon further review i see more cracks. =(

I highly suggest replace it. Best do it right now or possible have an emergency later. There Are several concerns here. The fitting will be under pressure as a return, the bulkhead is cracked, and it has thread tape which should not be used.

I used to think tape was ok too, but read the link to LASCO and it makes a great argument on why not to use tape, why it cracked, and how to do it right.

Just want to be sure we don’t wind up with water on th floor.

Bulkheads from online vendors, also maybe local plumbing supplies stores. I once found 3/4 inch bulkhead at homedepot. But I think that was a stoking error

Al of the "dope" you have shown in pics never hardens and I would not use t on a an aquarium. The Teflon tape is a good try you could cut it shorter with dremmel however you take the chance of the threads getting messed up..

I used this. The only thing is it is also a lubricant. LASCO says it should not have lubricant to avoid over tightening and cracking. I just was careful
