So... Everything is pretty much gone. All my fish are dead, my shrimps and hermit crabs all dead. My corals and snails are still up and alive but other than that... The Hell Tank strikes again.

I was only gone for two days. My mom was taking care of it by simply feeding them. They were up and okay this morning and when I got home from work tonight... All gone.

My tank is cursed...

I've no concrete advice ... but I offer sympathy and condolences.

So sorry . . .

~Bruce
Thank you. Really my mom is more emotional and upset than I am about it. She thinks it's all her fault but I know it's not you know but she doesn't believe me when I tell her. Thanks again.

Know what?

Tell Mom I agree with you. Two days of feeding the fish doesn't make it her fault.

~Bruce
I keep telling her the Fish Gurus say it's not your fault and she's calmed down some but still feel bad cause it happened on her watch you know

Sorry for your lost, but, yes, I worry every time I vacation. I'm thinking vacation isn't worth it. Please track down the issue. Start over please! You'll be happy again, sooner than later.

Yeah I'm starting to get that feeling to lol. And yeah I plan to start over but this tank has had so much bad juju with it that Ive decided to get another one. Also... Big...and better lol

Sorry to hear. Any idea what caused it ?

Did you check for electricity leak? I've heard that can cause a quick crash? Also like everyone else I'm very sorry to hear about your tank. Good luck with the new build!

I really have no idea. Water parameters are all good. Maybe a parasite?
Parasite unlikely to kill everything in 2 days unless it's velvet.
Your inverts shouldnt be affected by fish parasites

She didn't clean the house did she?? Spraying chemicals near/on tank?

I would suspect some kind of toxin was introduced.

Do you have macro algae or an algae turf scrubber? They consume ammonia directly and help prevent crashes.

Pet sitter sprayed my house with Lysol(disregarding the rules I gave), tank crash, me sad for months. Next step...Carbon , some water changes, $5 $10 frags here and there. A year later and my tank looks better than ever. Oh and a New pet sitter too ;)

I just set up a 30 gallon and I have a lot of different types of back ups just in case because you never know. Right after I put batteries in my back up bubbler I left for the weekend and the power went out while I was gone.

The main things that can wipe out a tank fast are temperature and Chemical pollution. Overfeeding is possible but unlikely. It was something catastrophic for sure so you have to find out, their is no such thing as bad luck in this complicated hobby its more a learning curve that we all have to go through. How many fish perished and what species?
