Ok. I agree with velvet as as well [HASHTAG]#melypr1985[/HASHTAG] . 76 days sucks because I've had this tank since early Jan and still no fish. That's why I've been getting corals, to be able to see life in the tank but I've also fallen in love with them. I'm just afraid to keep adding more then I'm capable of keeping as I'm not experienced and be in a position where I have to start to dosing or having to get reactors to supplement their needs. I keep trying to find the easier ones to keep. I'd like one more torch coral though. What do you recommend?

@Wiz I'm glad to hear I shouldn't panic about the little guys in the tank. I heard a six line wrasse can take care of some of them. I did forget to mention I had bought ghost shrimp as my LFS recommended I did to see if my tank could handle the bioload . It's weird though, I bought 12 of them but I can only spot 4 since a few days back. I do see shells floating around, not sure if they shed them off.

Check your floor they are notorious jumpers lol six lines are awesome. But I would not get one just for a problem that's not really a problem. I really want to know what that worm is. It looks like a freshwater planaria. I can't find anything closer than a ribbon in salt. Ill keep lookin though. Posably an epitoke. But again just a guess.

Yup! I was at an LFS yesterday after work and took a really good look at one that was in a frag tank and I really loved the way they move and how the eyes look as if they were scoping for parasites almost like a mandarin fish. I'm contacting BRS today for a cover for my tank. Thanks for your input!!! You guys are great. As you can see I'm loaded with questions and curiosity. Lol!!

Well, I'll say that my tank is stocked full of all different types of corals and i haven't had to dose yet - and it's been up for two years now. I think with regular water changes you'll be fine for a goodly while without having to worry about dosing. I hope that helps

Sorry to get off topic but what type of corals do you have? My lfs say that to keep ones like lps you need to dose and spot feed the corals. I also see people that have automatic dosers for calcium etc...so this is not necessary? That is what is really keeping me from trying an lps. I am hearing all sorts of things. Right now I have green mushrooms and a green start polyp I believe...

Yes it does help. So one or two more corals would be ok? In a 75g tank with 18g sump how much % would you do for W/C ? Is it based on dt or do you consider the sump too? Safe to say torch are easy to keep? Any special requirements??

Dosing is about depletion of the big 3 Cal Alk & mag. Itd good & why folks check those in the basic set of parameters, and write it down. Those minerals are replenished when you change your water. But If you start noticing its not being replenished with water changes, you dose more. This is also a consideration when deciding on the volume and frequency of a water change. 10% of total water volume every 2 weeks is a good starting point, and track the parameters from there.
And dosing can be the simple A B method(google)
Stony corals obviously will use more calcium, so if you have a lot it will likely need supplemental dosing.

Spot feeding is good for a lot of corals. Btw. and not considered dosing. Some will say dose ammino's or plankton, but i dont think thats correct
