Critic my fish decisions

Foxface one spot. My research says they grow up to 8”. Several people suggested this to me.

The scopus i got will get to big for the tank one day and will probably have to get rid of it.

and a gorgeous little fox face it is

A Foxface could still outgrow a 90g, but will take time depending on how large it is now. I loved mine that died of old age a while back. However, they are grazers and need plenty of algae to eat.
If you get any other tang for a 90g, I would say a Tomini. They tend to be smaller. Scopas could be a bully though.
Good luck!!!

I guess mine was pretty big for a Foxface at almost 8- 9". In a 210g, he fit fine. Come to think of it, mine was a Lo. No spot. Maybe they get a bit bigger.

Thats why I mentioned the Kole Tang as they don’t grow as large like the Tomini.

A one-spot foxface shouldn't outgrow the tank but any bigger species will.
Just for the OP, here’s the species in a guessed size that they will be at eventually (After a few years):

1. Siganus unimaculatus (One Spot Foxface) - 8 inch
2. Siganus magnificus (Magnificent foxface) - 8 inch
3. Siganus niger (Tongan Black Foxface) - 9 inch
4. Siganus vulpinus (Foxface Lo) - 9 inch
5. Siganus uspi (Bicolor foxface) - 10 inch

Personally, I wouldn’t have any other foxface unless it was a Unimaculatus or a Magnificus. As for how active they are, Foxfaces aren’t as active as the bigger species are. They also take a while to grow, I have had my Magnificent for 2 years and I got him at 3 inch, he’s now 5 inch. I had the same species of fish for 2 years, I lost that fish due to ammonia but he was bought at 1.5-2 inch and got to 3-4 inch in those 2 years. So it’ll take about 8 years for a magnificent to get to max size, and I’d assume the same for the other species.

My Koles have been way bigger than any Tomini I have ever seen. I have had the yellow eye. I think it will depend on the fish. We are always guessing in captivity. With tangs, I tend to go with what I have experience with.
Either way, if you get it small, it will take time to get large.

Can you give us a time line so far? Like when did you add salt water to the tank?
How did you cycle it, with a shrimp? or did you just start adding fish?
How many fish are in your tank now?
