Hey guys, new here on the forum. I’ve had this setup for a few months and haven’t had any issues with flow and have really enjoyed the look of the scape, but I wanted to reach out and see if anyone notices anything that seems off or just have any sort of constructive criticism. This will eventually turn into a mixed reef once my new lights come in, if this helps. Thanks!

The most important thing you've cover and that is you said you like it. I think it looks pretty good too. The only comment I'd make is that the right structure, central bottom rock has a lovely slope to it ideal for coral placement but its under the shade of the rocks above it. Is it possible to slide it forwards abit to take the slope out of shade.

I think so, I’ll have to check. My big thing I wanted to accomplish was to have everything balanced on its own so it wouldn’t be a hassle to change anything if need be. I believe that rock has some more backside to it so it should be easy to just slide it up.

So I managed to scoot it out a bit and get more light on it, I just had to readjust the other rocks a little bit to make it more balanced, but I think it turned out pretty good. I also went about creating more swim throughs on the left side so it feels more open. What do you think?

I think you did a nice job. Only thing is your rock looks kinda close to the glass in a couple spots and may be difficult to scrape algae off. It may not be as close as it appears in the pics though.

Luckily the back glass has decent space from the rock going the full width, but there’s one spot on the right side that is a little tight, but I made a DIY scraper that reaches in that nook and clean it.

I'd like to see a little more height variance between the two structures. Ie lower the right structure an inch or so and raise the right one accordingly.

I agree with the previous post... and right structure ... take all the stacking off... take the rocks that were stacking and make them go up for the height. Keep them islands IMO.

Left side don't move looks awesome which I had done something like that too.

Yeah upon closer examination, that structure on the left is pretty cool. Try to raise the right structure several inches in lieu of lowering the left. A taller, skinnier structure on the right would be nice, add height and a bit more negative space which will make both structures pop a bit more.

+1 on this! Make sure you can scrape all the way down where the rock is close to the glass. Or you’ll have to live with an algae spot there and that may be fine too if you don’t mind it.

I’m a little limited on the rock I have, but my LFS sells cured real reef rock so I might go looking there for a couple small pieces to help with vertical reach. But yea I like the sounds of that.

Thanks! The Caribbean shapes were pretty cool to work with. It definitely helps makes a lot of books and swimthroughs.

If you like I would keep it as is. Just make sure its easy to do maintenance (e.x. cleaning the glass).
Personally I like it ;)

So I decided to mess around with it a little bit, and this is what I came up with. I think I got the vertical height now. What do you think?

Looks good, are you going for sps? And I’d move that rubble pile on the right a little bit back so you can clean the glass easier

I like the height, looks a bit triangular but not too bad. I think once the rocks blend it will look way better to the eye. It's a bit hard to judge because of the new and old rock together make it hard to view as one complete structure.
