Any fruit juice works. Adding a little yeast or beer will help attract them as well. The trick is to add a few drops of dish soap to the water and stir gently so as not to get bubbles. The soap alters the surface tension of the water and pulls the flies under so they can't escape.

Never had a gorilla crab so someone correct me if I'm wrong won't it just climb over the divider in the aio and back into the tank? Most crabs can live awhile above the water line and climb very well. I'd be afraid it'll be back in your display overnight.

It's the yeast from fermentation that the flies are actually attracted to, not the fruit/juice. That's why the yeast/beer mixed with fruit juice works better. The soap is key.
