I have never said anything about the light. The light is ok I guess. Not for growing acros efficiently however, color spectrum is just not really for growth, more for showing color. However the wall transformer/power supply will fail on you one day. All 3 have failed within 2-3 years, pretty dismal for an LED. One of them caused a huge disaster as I mentioned before.
Their customer service is pretty meh, not only that, their product warranty policies are even worse.
Trust me, I thought these were one of the best bang for your buck LEDs, but I have Ecotech Radions that are more cost effective than these lights. When those lights fail, you will be heavily disappointed.
I wouldn't even go AI LEDs. They are TRULY the best bang for your buck LEDs, but they don't have the warm white diode, which is proven to accelerate coral growth. I had some Acropora Horridas and Tenuis that stayed as a stub for couple of years under the Current USA LEDs (until they failed on me) and another year under a bunch of AI Prime HDs. When I made the switch to Radions, that's when they boomed in growth. Color spectrum makes a huge difference when growing high end acros (or corals in general).
Black box LEDs are also sufficient at growing corals because they also have the warm white diodes. But the color mixing is trash and gives your tank the disco ball effect.
Overall, most LEDs can grow LPS, softies, and some SPS corals efficiently, depending on par output. But if you want high end acros and such that demand high quality light, you're going to have to find LEDs that have great color spectrum, such as the radions or kessil.
