Custom aquariums custom tank

Huh??? I just checked my c.a. edges and they are perfectly smooth. My wood work actually covers them and all the edges - I just wanted it to hold water, so I didn't even care. But, now that I look, they are smooth.

My tank was extremely well crated too.

Since reefeco already talked this guy out of custom aquariums and a couple of other people too... the point is moot -but- maybe a person should be advised to ask for some high res video pictures of the seams and edges before delivery - if that's your bag.

Funny too, because, I went with custom aquariums because of some aggressive online attacks against glass-cages (made me think I should look elsewhere - LOL). I guess that's the way it is now.
I think "Huh?" was my reaction too when I saw my seams. I'm not surprised your edges are polished, as they should be of course. I provided the photo of the non-polished edges (on the vertical seams of the visible end of the peninsula tank - actually the only edges that would be visible at all - just my luck!) with the bogus excuse because I think we all know they should be polished, and normally are. Custom Aquarium's response that machine marks are "normal" was just an(other) example of their dishonesty. Yes, I will relate my experience to as many people as possible so they can make an educated decision. If that costs CA some tanks, perhaps they will learn from this experience treat customers better in the future. Accountability is key.

I know at least a dozen people who have ordered new custom and stock sized tanks from Custom Aquarium (including myself). All of which have had great experiences. My tank is 96”x36”x30” with front & side panels made from low lead glass. It is a great tank with an anodized aluminum frame, no plastic at all. All of the edges are smooth and beveled.

I did not use their overflow or sump system.

Yeah, that was the main basis of my decision to use them as well - talked to a bunch of people who had good experiences. Alas. As I've said, the mere fact that I could have the experience I did speaks to deeper problems at the company.

Who was the person did you interfaced with at Custom Aquariums?

Mark Beavers and Mark Williams. Beavers was the sales guy I worked with on the 5 tanks, and he was really great right up until the time the tank arrived damaged - then everything changed. Mark Williams their COO was the one making most of the decisions I think, and he is a piece of work - expected me to pay an extra $1,000 in shipping ("Nobody wins in these situations" and "not our problem" - said I was "unflexible" for not agreeing to pay this), wouldn't remake the tank without me taking the damaged stand we didn't even know was viable (stand bounced around in the crate for 2,000 miles, 7 of 9 leg levelers stripped from their threads, powder coating damaged all over), said machine marks were "normal", said they changed their crating methodology based on the shipping damaged occured but wouldn't admit they did anything wrong in crating (LOL), couldn't bring himself to apologize for 3 weeks... and on and on. I mean, I run my own business and when I make mistakes or miss a deadline(almost never) I of course make good and take responsibility, not only because it is the right thing to do, but because I understand that my decisions effect other people and their own businesses and pocketbooks. Then after everything and having calculated a credit for me weeks earlier before the tanks were shipped (deposit on suction cup rentals and credit for a tank size change) they kept $234, which they said was an accounting error. Right.
