Cycle after moving tank to new house

There isn't 2 tanks. There's just one tank! Haha I moved my tank from old house and moved it to new house. Used same sand, rock and water. That's what I'm thinking is that the ammonia is just cause of the bad test kit. I think it's 0 ammonia, for sure 0 nitrite and about 20-30 nitrate.

yeah. do a 50% wc and call it a day. i thought u were transitioning to a new tank in your new house

Welp I had no idea it was getting so complex lol.

  1. Okay so I would not advise tap because, depending where you live, TDS may be too high.
  2. Water changes are to remove some of your Nitrate and a little bit of Ammonia - mostly Nitrate though since you are at 30ppm.
  3. You can add Aquasafe (lets just do 2-3 teaspoons for now).
  4. Try to stay calm. This is a bit tricky but I went thought this with a full tank of coral.

I've moved my tank twice in the past year and a half and didn't know about this...! Oops... Once when I acquired the tank and two when I moved in with my girl...a third will be when we buy a house... Didn't see any issues when I set the tank back up...

Fish are in the tank, so keep checking levels and if ammonia goes up, change water? Anything else I need to worry about now

yeah. bud light sucks.

im kidding. try to get seachem stability imo. it should be just fine

My son uses bio-spira in his qt. Puts in water, bio-spira, waits 1/2 day and then the fish. Has lost a fish yet in his qt yet, around 20.

The clowns look happy, chromis is hiding as usual and fire fish is probably laying down in a hole somewhere.

Added tetra safe start plus as well, turned lights off. The rock I just set in there real quick, my coral is upside down, oh no!!!! [emoji54][emoji57]

For nitrates? What about my ammonia?
Water Changes will help a little with that. The Dechlorinates is what will remove your Ammonia drastically until your tank is cycled. That is just a temporary solution so you wouldn't kill your fish. Your tank WILL cycle but may take a few days to a few weeks...just depends.

The spike likely came from the sandbed being disturbed. Swooshing water around during the transfer. Like Reefbeard said, create more bacteria prior to a move to help, but sandbeds can be nuclear, even if you are very careful. I usually toss the sandbed to eliminate this issue. In fact, I just moved and went barebottom lol. Good luck with everything, I'm sure it will stabilize soon!
