Cycle after moving tank to new house

What Reef said. Those test kits are known for being inaccurate. They might give you a ballpark or they might be 100ppm off. It's the best you've got though and if you're unwilling/unable to get something else on the quick, may as well go by what they say and hope for the best.

This is my ammonia test kits
nope they arent expired.
however as a test, try it on tap water. if they are the same, you have a winner.

amoo is actually right, that sometimes you will get a false positive of ammonia with api kits.

the fact you asked what your kits read, is a simple enough indicator that represents our own frustrations with the kit. we can get a ballpark, but not quite there. i use api as well to cross reference my own kits. however i know it wont give me a set in stone answer like another kit would....

Not sure how accurate but the nitrite on this shows no pink or red at all

Not sure what test that is but if you are showing no to some traces of Nitrates you are okay. I have seen fish live in crazy nitrate readings.

So I looked up what Petsmart carries for SW testing and you're kind of between a rock and a hard place. If it was me I would put the fish in the tank and go get yourself one of these:

The Seachem alert badge is kind of considered standard operating equipment for QT tanks and they work well. I would still test once a day for a week or so to bounce the two off of each other, but IMO that's probably your best option.

Ugh how did I forget. Yes I had one of those when I was going through my issue.

api will get him by imo until he orders a good kit online. big boxes generally ignore the good kits.

I actually just moved my tank. moved it just like you did except it took me 2 days before I could finally set my tank back up. Used same sand/live rock. dropped in some bacteria/quick start stuff and threw everything in the tank. all is good. Ive had very good experience with the bacteria/quick start stuff. I used api quick start. All is well in my experience.

I just bought a new ammonia test kits api sorry all they had really. And nitrite kit. Api. And a bottle of tetra safe start plus. Does this stuff work okay?

Also, petsmart tested my water with their sorry strips and got 0-.25 ammonia 0 nitrite and 20 nitrate. What does this even mean?

What if my tank isnt even cycled anymore and my nitrate is from the old tank water I moved over [emoji54]

its exactly what i said previously. anyway.

petco usually has stability. use it. dump fish in and monitor the situation.

you may be getting that mini cycle

old tank is a hospital now

when you introduce the bioload (the fish), watch your ammonia levels. if they spike, do a water change. Have a good amount of salt water made up just in case. good husbandry is going to be the name of the game from what it sounds like.

Will my fish be fine in the bucket without heater or airdrome till I move them 15 minutes down th road
