Cycling a new tank

I am setting up a new 100 gallon tank and am wondering if this would work.
My thought is to take about enough bio media to fill a aqua clear 70 that has been running in a existing tank for years and add one small chromis do you think this would work?

Possibly. I think a better alternative is to add bottled bacteria and wait a couple of weeks (instead of subjecting the fish to a cycle)

If youre asking if this will allow instant stocking of the tank- perhaps not. It will help with seeding but that filter alone may not handle the bioload of tank.
Add liquid bacteria such as Micro Bacter XLM and test /monitor ammonia and nitrate for at least a week to see if numbers are stable or all over the place

You gotta give more info. You say summit is in a running tank? Have you mature substrate?

Should be fine chromis are basically indestructible. However I would add more bio media to the tank as your existing bio media won't be able to handle your bio load long term. Also it will give more area for new bacteria to spread onto during the cycling process.

I would think you would be fine doing that as well. I've set a few smaller tanks doing something similar.
